On 22nd June 2017, world leader in creative industries education The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) became the new operator of The Electric Theatre. Headquartered in Guildford and sister company to London’s legendary Metropolis Studios (which the likes of Queen, Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson all called home and where 50% of the UK chart is recorded, mixed or mastered in an average year), ACM has prepared more than 13,000 graduates for careers in the music and wider creative industries over the last 22 years, including the record-breaking Ed Sheeran and local boy Newton Faulkner. As regular hirers of the venue throughout that time, ACM is now proud and privileged to run The Electric Theatre as a community arts venue for the people of Guildford on a not-for-profit basis, for the next 20 years.

As part of the transfer of operations from Guildford Borough Council, ACM was lucky to retain the entirety of The Electric Theatre’s staff, so returning visitors will be welcomed back to the venue by the same friendly faces. We can also promise you the benefit of ACM’s newest upgrades to the space: A state-of-the-art box office system that enables patrons to take advantage of mobile, print-at-home and conventional ticketing options, and a brand-new website to make finding out more about The Electric Theatre and its programming a whole lot easier.

Fundamentally, ACM’s investment in the venue secures the immediate future of The Electric Theatre with its primary objective unchanged - to make theatre and the arts accessible to the entirety of the community.

So, whether you’re looking for theatre, film, music, an auditorium or conference room to hire, a riverside cafe-bar, or a place to celebrate something special, we all look forward to welcoming you here, soon. The Electric Theatre Team
