What more could you ask for? The Historical Society will sponsor a candlelight dinner and special program about the history of the Indian King Tavern on Wed Mar 24. The event will be held at Tavistock Country Club starting at 6pm with a cash bar. Dinner and the program will follow beginning at 7pm. Historian, Garry Stone, will debunk the myths and legends surrounding the Indian King, a cornerstone of the American Revolution in South Jersey. Stone works at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park and is an active member of Friends of the Indian King Tavern. The cost of the program is $42 for Historical Society members and $45 for non-members. The deadline to make reservations is Fri Mar 19. continued on page 4 > The sign outside says “BACK BAY CRABCAKES” but the menu board inside says so much more. Located at 350 Haddon Avenue, Westmont – right on the border with Haddonfield – Back Bay Crabcakes has an extensive lunch and dinner menu and party packages that are perfect for entertaining. Their “Best of South Jersey” broiled jumbo lump crabcakes are available in entrée and party sizes and can be purchased cooked or uncooked (baking at home is easy!) What’s Your Take?LearnalittlemoreabouttheIndianKingTavern

duringtheHistoricalSociety’sCandlelightDinneronWed Mar 24.

What is your favorite piece of Haddonfield history?

• A man of few words, resident DREW SIOK quickly answered,

“Definitely the dinosaur.”

• Maple Avenue’s MATT SMITH answered for his family, “We like that there was a very special dinosaur found at the end of our street.” Matt is pictured with his 5-year-old daughter, CIARA.

• Meadow Drive’s TED and CAROLYN (8) SMITH became fans of the Indian King Tavern after taking a tour a few years ago. “The Indian King Tavern is great and so is the state park service that now takes care of it,” Ted replied.

• JOHN CARNEY, of Redman Avenue, appreciates the

connection modern-day Haddonfield has

with the past. “It’s just so historic. The area was settled in

1682,” he explained. John is pictured with

his son RYAN (1).

• GABRIELLE McKEEVER, currently a resident of Landsdowne Ave, grew up in Haddonfield. She loves “the detail and character of the historic homes ... especially the big old front porches.”

Gabrielle is pictured with her 2-year-old son JACK.

• When Birchall Drive’s TRACEY and JACK (4) LESSARD aren’t at

the playground, they can often be found strolling downtown Haddonfield. “We love Kings Highway and the history that

surrounds you when your walking down the street.

It’s quite unique,” answered Tracey.

Please accept my sincere and heartfelt gratitude for your amazing response to Jack’s

passing in January. He was my soulmate, husband, and partner.

You are my community and friends. Your kind words,

actions and spiritual support have been so appreciated, and are sustaining me now.

I hope to return to the store very shortly and to resume

working with our great team to build upon Jack’s

wonderful legacy.

With great affection,

Judi

(856) 354-0083www.mcnelisandsherry.com

Please forgive my not writing individually to date. I had hand

surgery ten days after Jack’s death, following a fall on the ice.

Doing better now. Back strong soon! Fondly, J.
