See the Sandaga Jazz Band!! at the DeSoto Corner Theatre Darryl Thomas' contributions to the Dallas Jazz Community have been significant. The first incarnation of his nightclub, Sandaga Market, became the coolest jazz hang in DFW. Major talent from DFW, visiting headliners, and serious amateurs kept the place jumping. Renamed Sandaga 813, it is now one block from the front gates of Fair Park. At the regular Tuesday night jam led by his house band, Darryl provides a solid jazz footing for an amazing range of musicians to jam. The Sandaga Jazz Band is an alternating group of top DFW musicians. Included in the corps is Linny Nance on keyboard, Dana Sudborough on vibraphone, S-Ankh Rasa on saxes, Kevin Butler on bass, and Jamil Byrom on drums. This Sunday, the Sandaga Jazz Band will perform in the Uptown/Downtown DeSoto Music Series. Bringing their usual flair for high-energy jazz, including straight-ahead, funk, and fusion, they will fill DeSoto's Corner Theatre with this glorious music. DFW is a great cultural center for America, including jazz and classical music. Uptown/ Downtown DeSoto brings the best jazz and classical musicians to Southwest Dallas County. Tickets are available at 972-230-9648, at Uptown/Downtown DeSoto Ticket Sales, and at the door - $10.
