SketchingSketchinginNX8.5hasbeenstreamlined.Thecoordinatesystemdisplayinsketcheshasbeensimplifiedtomakeitclearer,andsketchcoordinatesystemsnowhaveuniquenamestomakethemeasiertoselect.Youalsohaveincreasedflexibilitywhenplacingconstraints,streamliningthesketchingprocessandreducingdevelopmenttime.
Feature-based modelingNX8.5deliversmanyusabilityenhancementsandnewcapabilitiesinfeature-basedmodeling.Youcanuseopenprofilestocreatefeatures,whichauto-maticallyextendtothesurroundinggeometrytocreateaclosedfeature.Youcannowembossabodywithanotherbody,whichisusefulforcreatingdiesorensuringsufficientclearancebetweentwoparts.
Thereisanewwaytocreateunionsbetweentwosolidorsheetbodies.Youcanselectwhichregionsyouwanttokeeporremove,allowingyoutocreateyourdesiredgeometrywithabout30percentfewercommandsand25percentfewerfeatures.

Product and manufacturing informationProductandmanufacturinginformation(PMI),whichembedscriticalmanufac-turingandotherinformationdirectlyinyour3Dgeometry,hasbeenenhancedforNX8.5.ThePMIuserinterfacehasbeensimplifiedandsomecommandshavebeenrenamedandmovedtomakethemmoreintuitivetouse.YounowhavegreatercontroloverwhichPMIisdisplayedinwhichplaces,helpingtocleanupandmanageyourPMI.WhentryingtofindthePMIassociatedwithselectedgeometry,younowhavethechoiceofviewingitinapermanentortemporaryview.Whenextractinggeometryfromabody,younowhavetheoptionofextractingPMIdataalongwithit,reducingreworkandhelpingcreatesmartermodels.

Theviewcreationwizardhasbeenenhancedwithnewcommandsandoptionsdesignedtooptimizeperformancewithlargeassemblydrawings.Anewoptiongivesyoutheabilitytopermanentlyalignaviewwithotherviews,givingyougreatercontrol.

NX DraftingPlusNXDraftingPlusdeliversenhanced2DdesigncapabilityinsideNX,andonitsthirdrelease,continuestoaddfunction-ality.YoucannowcreateDrawingBooklets,whicharemultipledrawingfilescombinedintoastructurethatallowsyoutogrouptogetherthedrawingsneededtodefineanassemblyorstudy.Sincethefilesinthebookletaremanagedasasingleunit,it’seasiertomanagethem;andtheimpactonsystemresourcesisreduced,makingthewholesystemfaster.
Itisnowpossibletoeasilymovedrawingobjectsfromoneviewtoanotherwhilemaintainingtheirassociativityandproperscale,orientationandstyle.Youcannowsmashadrawingview,meaningtheobjectsinthatviewarenolongerassociatedwiththeviewitself.Thisgivesyoumoreflexibilityinplacingyourobjectsina2Ddesignenvironment.
