OverviewBigHand 5 incorporates many of the features that you will already be familiar with, as well as some new tools that we’ve developed in response to client feedback to make our technology even more useful.

BigHand 5 has been built from the ground up to deliver a highly usable, scalable, secure Dictation and workflow platform which can meet the needs of any size of firm. It’s built to perform under extreme workloads so no matter how quickly your organisation grows, you can be sure that BigHand will be the right technology for you.

BigHand 5 has been written using an API layer so that it can easily integrate with the other systems that your organisation uses.

BigHand NowBigHand Now is a task management solution that makes administration more manageable and efficient by letting you capture, assign and track any kind of task digitally. Tasks can be created from voice, email, electronic or paper-based requests, from reprographics and document production requests to travel bookings.

Tasks can be created quickly and easily by completing a form and attaching any accompanying files. Once in the workflow, tasks can be assigned to a specific team or team member for processing and tracked through to completion.

BigHand Capacity ManagerBigHand Capacity Manager gathers information about the tasks being processed by your administration teams and displays it in an intuitive dashboard.

The dashboard pulls information from the BigHand workflow and lets you clearly see the number of tasks that have been submitted to each document production team, the number of tasks that have been completed and how many are still outstanding. The dashboard also gives you an estimate of the time it will take your teams to complete the outstanding work, which means you are able to plan accurately.

Security

BigHand 5 is a secure platform. Communication between server and client components is carried out using SSL, so files and data are encrypted while in transit. Audio

files are also encrypted at rest using AES 256 bit encryption.

Speech RecognitionThe process of proofreading has been dramatically improved. Any text that is transcribed by the BigHand Speech Recognition platform can now be proofread, edited and saved within the BigHand application instead of through Microsoft Word. This eliminates the complexities of integrating with Microsoft Word and reduces the need for training.

Profiling It is now possible to enforce Dictation profiling as part of the natural workflow. This means that you are able to dictate your thoughts straight away and complete the profiling information afterwards. It’s now also possible to enforce the profiling stage, rather than being able to bypass it as in previous versions. This means that all Dictations that are entered into the BigHand workflow will have all of the necessary supporting information and will not require secretaries to chase the additional details.

Work ManagementWith Work Management you are able to group tasks by important data as well as being able to see the total number of Dictations that are pending, in progress, complete and any work that’s overdue instantly.

Playback Assistance To enable assistants to transcribe more effectively, we have created the ‘Mini Player’ to give you access to key BigHand functions such as playback, playback speed, audio, and status changes on a task, even whilst you are working in another program.

NotificationsRecognising the shift towards team or pool working, we have enhanced our notifications system to enable assistants to keep up to date with work from multiple sources by ‘flagging’ important folders.

You can now specify which of your folders you want to receive ‘New Task’ notifications for.

Proofread, edit, format & save Speech Recognition transcriptions within BigHand

Group tasks by certain criteria in the Work List e.g. group by priority to easily identify high priority tasks

Mini Player enables assistants to manipulate Dictations in an unobtrusive interface whilst transcribing in another app e.g. Word
