Future Panthers!
PKS had its annual Kindergarten Round-up on
Friday, May 3rd. This years Kindergarteners
showed next years students what they learned
and how much fun school is! They were treated
to a tour of the school, a visit to
the Media Center where Dr. Cash
read a book and gave each new
student a book, they had a snack
in the cafeteria and topped it off
with a bus ride!

Anthony Casale~Second Grade. Mrs. Robinson selects Anthony for student of the week. Anthony is a very nice young man who recently moved to the Florida Keys with his family from Pennsylvania. Anthony is an extremely bright student who is always helpful to his teachers and classmates. Anthony enjoys reading and recess !
Simon Gutierrez~Eighth Grade. Ms. Meyer has selected Simon as Student of the Week. Simon is a hardworking student with a knack for using humor positively in the classroom. He greets teachers and peers with a smile and makes well-timed jokes without disrupting class. Simon is focused and diligent when completing assignments. He shows curiosity and a desire to learn, which have served him well this year in school and are sure to bring him far in life. Congratulations, Simon!

Four students joined the Keys Community Concert
Band at their Pops in the Park concert held on
Saturday, April 27th. Pictured with Ms. Kat (who
guest directed) are Angeline DePaula, Ray Scuderi
and Andrew Guevara. Azaya Stephenson also
participated. Great job! PKS ROCKS!

The Upper Keys
Chapter of Alpha
Delta Upsilon held
its annual Miss
Junior Orange Bowl preliminary event on Tuesday,
April 30th. Several PKS students qualified for the
main event being held in Miami in September.

Spine Poetry
Sixth graders in Mrs. Perrotti’s ELA class Students were asked to make a “Spine
Poem” To make a “Spine Poem”, students pick out one book from each
category, 5 total, (fiction, non, YA, Easy and Biography) and make a poem from
the titles. They needed to think about how the titles of the books would work
together and then they read them in front of the class. It was a great lesson and
the students were creative in their poems. Some were funny, others very thought provoking.

Flu Shots & Immunizations
The Monroe County Health Department
never charges an out of pocket cost for
children’s vaccines (including Tdap).
Also, if an adult has insurance that covers
the vaccine, the Health Department will
accept their insurance for payment. If the
adult does not have insurance, there is a
program that will cover the vaccine at no
out of pocket
expense. Please call
