Secondary School Talks
We had our first round of secondary school talks by Ngee
Ann Secondary, Pasir Ris Crest Secondary, Victoria School
and Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary) for our P6 cohort at
the end of Term 2 and Cedar Girl’s School, Raffles
Institution, Changkat Changi Secondary, Dunman
Secondary, Temasek Secondary and Damai Secondary in
Term 4. Our students got to learn about the unique
programmes that are available in these schools. The
speakers also mentioned some considerations in choosing a
secondary school such as the distance of the school from
one’s home and areas in which they would want to pursue
and grow in when in secondary school. We hope that these
talks will empower our students to choose their secondary
school wisely.

NATIONAL
EDUCATION SHOW
2019 @ THE PADANG
Since 1997, the National Education (NE) Show has served as a key signature event for the cohort of Primary 5 students to bring across the significance of National Day. It aims to evoke in them a sense of pride and patriotism and develop a sense of commitment towards the nation and the community. This year, on 6th July, our P5 students proudly donned their red shirts and took a chartered train to The Padang for the NE Show 2019. The theme for NDP 2019 is “Our Singapore”. This year’s NDP commemorates Singapore’s bicentennial and allows us to tell Our Singapore story from past to present. “Our” emphasises the collective ownership of Singapore. We are living the dreams of our pioneers, and we are now the pioneers of our future.
PRIMARY 5
NATIONAL
EDUCATION SHOW
2019 @ THE PADANG
The P5 students, along with their teachers, were treated to a spectacular show made even more special by Singapore’s celebration of her bicentennial since our founding. The bicentennial floats featured different organisations such as Singapore Post, Singapore Police Force and Post Office Saving Bank (POSB). They were among the organisations which played pivotal roles in building Singapore during its early history, and continue to be relevant today. Other notable highlights included the 171-vehicle mobile columns and fighter jet aerial displays. It was indeed a special moment when a group of Merdeka Generation servicemen wearing their old uniforms made their appearance as they saluted the crowd to an extended applause. The segment served as a way to show the nation’s appreciation for their contributions to Singapore’s security in the early years.
The Show segment finally began when the sky darkened. The students sang along to a repertoire of National Day songs and were treated to a laser show, as well as the appearance of NDP’s largest-ever prop – a 6-metre tall metallic lion, symbolizing pride and confidence. At the end of the show, the students exercised their social responsibility as they ensured that they kept their seating sector litter-free. All in all, the experience of proudly donning red, waving flags, singing to their favourite NDP songs with their peers, and watching the fireworks had certainly created lasting memories for our students!

Understanding Mental Health in Children – TIPS for PARENTS
Mental Health is an integral and essential component of health. The World Health Organisation constitution states: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Good mental health isn't just the absence of mental health problems. Being mentally or emotionally healthy is much more than being free of depression, anxiety, or other psychological issues. Rather than the absence of mental illness, mental and emotional health refers to the presence of positive characteristics.
Mental health is about how we think, feel and act as we cope with our lives. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Like physical health, mental health is important at every stage of one’s life.
