Dear Families,
Another term behind us and things
don’t seem to be slowing down. In the
lead up to the holidays, let me take this
opportunity to thank all of our
students, staff and families for their
efforts throughout the term and
throughout the year so far. I have
every confidence that our school
continues to grow from strength to
strength, and I look forward to seeing
this continue into Term 4.
Well done to our PSSA Teams
Our Snr and Jnr Soccer and Snr Netball
teams all competed at their respective
zone finals on Friday. Our students
showed great courage, determination
and resilience and I’m pleased to say
that both our soccer teams finished in
third place, whilst our Snr Netball
Team took out this year’s title. Well
done to all involved.
Grandparents Day & Yr 6 Fun Day
On Wednesday, we welcome our
many wonderful grandparents, as we
hold a special assembly from 12pm
before starting our Yr 6 Fun Afternoon
immediately after. The assembly will
showcase some of our very talented
students and celebrate student
achievement. The afternoon of fun
activities will see our Yr 6 students
running lots of fun-filled activities as
they raise funds for their Yr 6 Farewell
and gift to the school.
Living Smart Project & Festival
We had the privilege of entering the
Living Smart Garden Bed competition
at the Living Smart Festival at Speers
Point Park on Saturday. Whilst we
didn’t win on this occasion, we did
receive a new garden bed for our
school and a number of plants for our
garden. A very big thank you goes to
Mr Shaw for his efforts in coordinating
our entry and, of course, our school
Living Smart Project. In Term 4, you will
see the completion of our recycled
bottle greenhouse and a number of
new gardens popping up.
The Cardiff Chronicle
Yarning Circle & Bush Tucker Garden
As part of our Living Smart Project, we
will also be establishing a yarning circle
and bush tucker garden, commencing
next term. During the holidays, the
garden area near our Russell St gate will
be cleared before we commence works
in establishing a yarning circle, and
planting a number of bush tucker plants.
NAPLAN 2018—Onward and Upward
Our Yr 3 and Yr 5 students have
received their NAPLAN reports and our
school has also now received our 2018
data. I’m pleased to report that we
continue to grow from strength to
s t r e n g t h w i t h o u r N A P L A N
performance.
This graph shows the Premier’s priority
area of the percentage of students in
the top 2 bands for numeracy and
reading. Well done everyone.
Transportation of Students
Please be aware that if you are assisting
with the transportation of other
students for special events, you are
required to complete a Working With
Children Check declaration and provide
a copy of your current driver’s licence
and registration. Thank you for your
understanding and helping to keep our
kids safe.
Congrats & Thank You Miss Watson
We would like to congratulate Miss
Watson on completing her teacher
training at our school and thank her for
her wonderful contribution to 1/2H and
our school as a whole.
Have a safe & happy holiday!

The Little Juddies have been working tirelessly over the past few months collecting, promoting, sorting and
packing pallets of food, drinks, toiletries, blankets, vouchers and children's toys. This Friday Mick, Bianca, Jesse and
Ruby Judd will make the huge 12 hour journey to deliver the donated goods to The Drought Angles headquarters
in Chinchilla, QLD. The Drought Angels will allocate and distribute all donations to farming families across NSW and
QLD.
Thanks to our school community's amazing support and generosity, we were able to deliver two car loads of
donated goods to The Little Juddies headquarters in Warners Bay. We wish them safe travels and thank them for
their outstanding efforts in supporting farming families. If you would like to follow 'The Little Juddies' on their

Helping your child with reading Reading every day Children value reading through watching their family use reading and writing every day. Encourage your child to read by sharing such activities as: finding brands at the shops reading signs and posters following a street directory checking the television guide choosing a video using a recipe reading game rules reading the newspaper aloud together playing word games or doing crossword puzzles
reading out instructions looking at letterbox leaflets reading magazines, comics, poems and rhymes. Reading aloud together. Children enjoy reading more if it is shared. Make time away from television and interruptions to read aloud with your child.
CARDIFF PUBLIC SCHOOL
Every Day Counts—Attendance
Regular attendance at school for every
student is essential if students are to achieve
their potential, and increase their career and
life options.
Parents must ensure that their children, who
are enrolled at school, attend every day the
school is open for their instruction.
They provide an explanation for absences by
means such as a telephone call, written note,
App notification or email to the school
within 7 days from the first day of any period
of absence (preferably earlier).
Planning a Family Holiday?
We encourage all of our families to take trips
during school holidays. No exemptions can
be granted for family holidays, however,
parents should contact the school and apply
for extended leave, before they go on
holidays. Leave will only be granted if it is
seen to be in the best interests of the child.
Educational, social and participation reasons
should be specified on the application and
travel documentation should be provided.
