NEON TIGER A new play by Julia-Rose Lewis Presented by La Boite in association withBrisbane Powerhouse 27 October–17 November 2018La Boite’s Roundhouse Theatre will transform into the bustling streets of Thailand for the world premiere of a new Australian musical love-story – Neon Tiger The story follows Andy (Lisa Hanley, Winners and Losers), an aspiring songwriter on sabbatical in Thailand who is trying to outrun her broken heart. Whilst hosting karaoke nights in Bangkok’s party-district, Andy meets Thai-American Arisa (Single Asian Female’s Courtney

Stewart), who’s on a personal quest to connect with her mother’s culture. Reminiscent of Tony Award winning musicals The Last Five Years and Once, Neon Tiger features eight original pop songs penned by award-winning comedian Gillian Cosgriff (Offspring, House Husbands). Fast moving, funny and insightful - Neon Tiger is a colourful collaboration from three of Australia’s most exciting talents: playwright Julia-Rose Lewis (Samson, This Feral Life), musical comedian Cosgriff and director Kat Henry (Wind in the Willows, Constellations).

Tickets from $30, visitlaboite.com.au for further information.

Neon Tiger was commissioned and developed by Brisbane Powerhouse through the support

of the Australia Council for the Arts.

Alice in Wonderland22 September–10 November 2018 on selected dates Tickets $18Bookings artstheatre.com.au/aliceinwonderland“’Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin,' thought Alice 'but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in my life!’” – Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland. And most wonderfully curious is the story of a little girl who falls down a rabbit hole, has a tea party with the Mad Hatter, grows,

shrinks and nearly drowns in tears before narrowly avoiding a sticky end with the Queen of Hearts. This timeless, outlandish story is beautifully presented on the Arts Theatre stage with lavish costumes and wildly imaginative sets. It is a production for all ages, with something for audiences young and old to enjoy.

?TheBenedetti Elschenbroich Grynyuk TrioPresented by Musica VivaWednesday 7 November 7pm Queensland Conservatorium Griffith UniversityMusicaviva.com.auTickets start at $30When is a trio not just a trio? When it is this one, comprising three stellar soloists. In their Southern Hemisphere debut, the matchless combined talents of Nicola Benedetti, Leonard Elschenbroich and Alexei Grynyuk will light up the stage. This is chamber music

made by an A-team of young guns; and played with love, because they insist on making room for its presence in their busy solo schedules. Given who they are, this ensemble’s program is more than just trios. Instead, it offers a diversity of forms, and a chance to better appreciate each performer, in works for accompanied violin and cello. However, their joy in playing in threes shines through in this arresting end to the Musica Viva season performing great masterworks of the trio repertoire by Brahms.Performing for one night only, prepare to be amazed.Under 40? Musica Viva does $40 for Under 40s!
