There are many reasons why Texas PTA will not forget this year and not for the reasons you may think. As we all know, membership directly impacts the vitality of our association. After celebrating a strong start to the year, we watched numbers dip, then dip again – three months in a row. We put out an SOS, and immediately our Council and Local Leaders leapt into action. Instead of falling behind, we have exceeded our goal. Thank you to every single PTA member in Texas … 522,026 and counting!
This year we heard just how loudly the PTA heart beats. When two PTA school campuses in the Metroplex suffered loss from devastating storms, many of you rallied around your colleagues. When we asked for your participation in an important conversation on teen vaping, over 15,000 of you tuned in. And, yes, when we shuttered our school buildings and stayed far away from one another, you asked, “How can I PTA from home?” This has been a rollercoaster of a year, but we never veered off track. We kept our focus on what’s important – our children and one another.
Thank you for being the very best association. This isn’t quite how I envisioned ending my two-year term as President, but I am humbled to be surrounded by the biggest hearts in Texas.
