Hello Pennsylvania Rain-bow!

I want to tell you all about some of the incentives that we have as Rainbow Girls. For example, not only are we part of an amazing organiza-tion and have the opportunity to make friends all over the world, but we have the ability to get rewarded for every-thing that we do! The first incentive is the Pennsylvania Rainbow service bracelet (the one Mrs. Snedden has graciously offered to us!) All you have to do is record your service hours, turn them in, and you can earn a beach-themed charm bracelet, spe-cially chosen by Mrs. Sned-den! Another opportunity is

the Supreme service bracelet! It is a beautiful Pandora-style bracelet with Rainbow colored beads you can earn! This is for both adults and girls. It’s really easy to earn this bracelet be-cause all you have to do is track your service hours and how many peti-tions you sign, and turn them in to Mrs. Snedden!

Another opportunity is for

our college-age girls.

There are so many schol-

arships available simply

because you are a mem-

ber of Rainbow! There

are many girls within our

ranks who have received

funds from our greater

Masonic bodies, just by

filling out the paperwork!

I, myself, have received

a great amount of funds

from the PMYF and

other bodies, and all I

had to do was fill out an

What a busy weekend this is

going to be!

First, we will be playing soft-

ball (fingers crossed that

spring is on the way.) Re-

member this is a chance to

practice your skills and think

about whether or not you

want to be on a softball team

at Grand Assembly.

At the same time, Grand Of-

ficers will be training for

Grand Assembly and learn-

ing their drills… “left,

right, left, right.”

We will also be conduct-

ing interviews for Grand

Floor Officers, Represen-

tatives, and Pages for

girls who are a current

Grand Officer (see page

3.)

Lastly, we will be voting

for Grand Worthy Advisor.

Rainbow is Service. That is Service to our organization; service to other fraternal organizations; service to other community organizations; and service to Church activities. We all perform “Service” and don’t even think about it because it is the way of life we embrace. Why keep track of some of the ser-vice hours? Often, the satisfaction of a helping others is all the reward we need to feel good about our-selves. Well, how about a “bonus” reward in the form of Rainbow “Bling!” The Supreme Assembly Pandora-style bracelet rewards ser-vice with colored beads to adorn the silver bracelet. There is also the PA beach-themed charm bracelet re-ward. Each charm, in Rainbow col-

ors, is awarded after every 25 hours of service. A special, silver light-house charm is the final charm pre-sented. In addition, the bracelets look great when worn together! Just jot down the hours served on a cal-endar, on your phone, in a journal, on pieces of paper tucked in a spe-cial place, or whatever works for you as a recording system. You will be surprised how quickly the hours accumulate. Then, just complete the form found on the website and send it in! On Thursday morning, at Grand Assembly 2013 we will recognize all the girls who have received either or both bracelets. I will send the hours from the Supreme bracelet to Ms. Carr to be added to the PA Rainbow

service hours. The girl with the most Service hours will have the honor and privilege of sitting in the large purple chair during Grand Assem-bly!

The last opportunity I want to talk to you about, is for my Grand Officers! I hope you are all tracking your mile-age to turn them in by late June! I would love to see how far you all have traveled. Maybe some of you will beat me in how far you’ve gone for Rainbow! This year is about Unity, and I hope you have been

spreading PA Rainbow love all over the world!

As you may have noticed on the calendar, Rainbow has an extra Pat-ton Weekend in June. It is June 28-30. We will use this weekend for further Grand Officer Training, gown fittings, and preparation for Grand Assembly. We will be playing tennis, having extra swim time, and other fun out-door activities will be available. We could also do some skits and have a talent show to practice for Corona-tion and Talent at Grand Assembly.

More information about this surprise weekend will be coming soon. As always, remember you will need to RSVP and send along your $15.00 Patton donation. This will be the last weekend before our “Believe In Unity” sessions begin in Altoona, PA. Maybe you could also use it as time to make some new friends that you will see at Grand Assembly!

Hi everyone, There are many re-minders this month, so read care-fully:

• 990 forms need to be com-pleted by each Assembly. Please forward me the receipt you receive when you complete the form.

• Registrations for Grand Assem-bly should be turned in as an Assembly - not by each individ-ual. Please work with other Assemblies to fill rooms. Keep

Youth Protection policies in mind while assigning rooms.

• Grand Officer applications are due by May 22nd.

• Grand Officer interviews will take place at Patton on June 8th and at Grand Assembly on July 10th. More information will be going out about these inter-views in late April.

• Please RSVP as soon as possi-ble for Sister Nikki’s testimonial on June 1st.

• Remember to turn in petitions to Mrs. Snedden.

• Remember to turn in service hours to Ms. Sarah Carr.

• Scholarship money is due by May 15th. There is a form in the binder you received at Adult Leadership Weekend.

PA Rainbow Girls now have another

new, approved clothing option. We

have said “Yes To The Sweatpants”

-- Official PA Rainbow Sweatpants.

They are navy blue with the letters

IORG (International Order of the

Rainbow for Girls) in light blue down

the leg. Any time Rainbow Girls are

invited to a Masonic event or activ-

ity, the girls must be dressed appro-

priately. If Rainbow has been asked

to present a ritualistic program, see

that the girls are wearing their tradi-

tional, formal, white look. The Wor-

thy Advisor should also be wearing

her Rainbow Crown. For an informa-

tional program or presentation, the

girls should wear “Rainbow Dress.”

That means a Rainbow appropriate

dress or a skirt and top. There are

other times when a Lodge may ask

their local Assembly to help serve

dinners or assist with other events.

Then, the PA Rainbow “Official Out-

fit” would work best. The official

“look” is khakis and a PA State or

Assembly Polo Shirt. The girls will

look great and be ready to work all

at the same time. There is now

more flexibility and approved “What

To Wear” options for the girls. What

hasn’t changed is our service to oth-

ers and our willingness to do our

part to be part of the Masonic Fam-

ily.

Did you receive your Grand Officer application from your Mother Advi-sor or print it out from the PA Rain-bow website? If you didn’t and you are a current or past Worthy Advi-sor, what are you waiting for? Be-fore you know it, May will be upon us and applications are due by May 22nd. Interviews will take place at Patton Campus on June 8th if you are a current Grand Officer. If you are not a current Grand Officer, then you will have your interview at Grand Assembly on July 10th. Your Mother Advisor will be receiving

more information about what you will need to do to prepare for the interview as far as ritual, time, and place. Don’t forget to look over the list of expectations for each office and decide which station would be best for you and if you would be best for that station! Lastly, to the girls who think they will be too busy with college, remember that being a Grand Representative requires less of a commitment, but still keeps you involved and active with your friends. While college is

certainly important, many times girls regret not taking on an office once Grand Assembly comes and they are not as busy as they used to be as a Grand Officer. We hope to have more applications each year so that we can have a representa-tive for every jurisdiction!

For the spoken portion of the competition, girls will be scored in the following areas: Ritual Work (omission & addition of words /phrases will result in a deduction of points) and presentation (including posture, volume, rate, eye contact, and confidence). The presentation scoring is undergo-ing a makeover in order to make the scoring process as objective as possible.

All girls will also be required to complete a written test. This test has also undergone some major changes. The younger age group will still be tested on basic Rain-bow knowledge that can be found in the Ritual. The Directors, how-ever, felt the older girls could be challenged a little more. So this year, the 14+ girls will be given selections from the Ritual and be

Every year, the Ritualistic Perfec-tion Directors work hard to create a competition that will appeal to and challenge the girls. Each girl is required to present the ritual/ceremonial work for their age group.

Girls 11-13 are required to pre-sent Love and Service (the Ritu-alistic Perfection Directors are working on an alternative for those who participated in this category last year and would like a different challenge).

Girls 14-17 will present the Rose Ceremony and the winner will be participating in this ceremony during Initiation at Grand Assem-bly.

We're offering a new ceremony, the Gavel Talk, for the 18+ age group. The winner of the Gavel Talk will be presenting this cere-mony during Installation on Fri-

The combination of the spoken por-tion and the written test scores will determine the winners for each cate-gory. With the reduced amount of categories this year, we hope to of-fer up more and larger prizes for each category.

The directors are continuing to look into options for the future for past winners to participate in. We are al-ways open for suggestions, espe-cially right after Grand Assembly, as this is when we begin our planning for the next year's competition.
