We are a small rural public high school, with low voluntary school fees and a well rounded education. Well done to everyone.

Light Horse War Memorial It was an absolute honour to showcase the school to our ex-student Air Vice-Marshal Warren McDonald, AM, CSC last Saturday. After the formal Light Horse War Memorial ceremony, Warren visited the school with his air crew, family, Ms Longworth, Ms McNally and myself. He took the opportunity to visit the school museum, the old science lab. (which is now the Staff Common Room) and he shared stories about his fantastic time at the school. From leaving school at the of age 15 to undertake an apprenticeship, his career has taken him all over the world.

Working together It’s common for children to have problems at school. Most problems are minor, and you and your child can sort them out at home. But some issues need parent-teacher cooperation and problem-solving.

Good parent-teacher relationships A good relationship with your child’s teacher and school is a great starting point for handling any problems that come up at school.

You can lay the groundwork for a good parent-teacher relationship by introducing yourself and getting to know the teacher as early as possible.

Communicating and building relationships with your child’s teacher is better than having contact with the teacher only when there’s a problem.

Good parent-teacher relationships mean children: * do better academically, emotionally and socially * are happier at school * attend school more regularly * are better behaved.

P & C News Thank you for the positive response to our new timed meeting format. It is a busy time of year so unfortunately a number of apologies meant a quorum was not met. An email will now been sent out for our member’s consideration and comments, and motions will be moved at the December meeting. Principal, Mr Yvan Chambers, as always, kept us up to date with school information and introduced our new Deputy Principal, Mrs Janine Nelson, who brought some fresh new ideas to our discussion. We heard about the ‘Quality Teaching Framework’ from Mrs Cathy Millyard and Miss Tegan Hatfield explained how teachers are implementing the ALARM program to help improve students understanding and written responses. Thank you all for providing such interesting information, we appreciated your time. P & C Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 5.30pm in the staff common room. They are a great place to find out information about what is happening at our school, to have an input in decisions that affect your children, to put forward any suggestions or ideas you have and be a positive link with the school. Our meetings are not a place for personal grievances, but are a place to make our school be the best it can be for all the students. Everyone is welcome to be involved in P & C discussions; membership is only $1.00 to give you voting rights. You are not obligated to attend every single meeting, just come when you can. Next Meeting: Thursday December 7th, 5:30pm, Staff Common Room
