Transcript of What’s Cool At School Warialda Public School...Annual Presentation Morning School staff would like...
As our year draws to a close I would like to thank the many people and organisations that have assisted us in any way during the year. Our school has enjoyed good community support and we have endeavoured to support community activities and events. For staff it is an extremely busy time of year and I appreciate the way in which they carry out their duties in a professional manner. This week has been very interesting with up to three staff members away sick and not always being able to replace them with casuals. Staff have taken on extra duties, extra students and reorganised their daily program to accommodate. 80 Merit Reward A large number of students enjoyed an indoor games afternoon, healthy food and a variety of activities to encourage them to continue to make positive life choices. These students always endeavour to do their best and it is great to be able to reward them. Many of these students will also be invited to attend the 100 merit reward day which will be held at the Roxy Theatre next Monday. 60 Merit Rewards Students who have achieved 60 merits and had not participated in the last 60 merit reward day have been invited to join in a movie session. Mrs Hancock will supervise these students for this activity. Intensive Swimming Students in Year 2, and primary students who cannot competently swim fifty metres are attending our intensive swimming program this week and next week. This program provides these students with an excellent opportunity to significantly improve their swimming ability. Both Mrs Haug and Ms Withers regularly undertake Austswim training so they can run this activity. Annual Presentation Morning
School staff would like to invite interested people to Warialda Public School’s Annual awards morning which will be held on Monday 13th December. Students will arrive at 9.15 and the presentations will commence at 9.30am and should conclude at 11.00am. Annual Christmas Church Service All students and parents are invited to attend our annual Christmas church service at St Simon & St Jude’s Anglican Church on Tuesday 14th December at 10.00am. Student Report Cards Report cards will be forwarded home on Friday 10th December. Each student report card contains a great deal of information which reflects student achievement over the last semester. It is important to remember that as the content taught for this semester is different it may be possible for students to achieve at a different level depending on the difficulty of this content. F1-11 Fly over Ex Warialda student Nathan Miller flew over his old schools on Monday at 1.10.pm. The F1-11’s are being mothballed and the pilots were able to select a town to complete their last mission in this aircraft. Students were very excited and watched from the school oval. Yr 6 Transition Students in Year 6 spent Monday and Tuesday attending their last transition days at Warialda High School. The transition program is aimed at having students ready to learn on their first day at high school next year. They have undertaken many sessions to make them more familiar with the school layout, classes and general expectations from high school staff. Staff would like to wish Year 6 ‘all the best’ for next year.

1. IDENTIFY The infection can be deadly in babies but anyone can get whooping cough
Babies and young children can stop breathing or develop severe coughing bouts that end with vomiting or gasping for breath People of all ages can get whooping cough and can spread it to babies. Adults often just have a mild cough that lingers.
2. PROTECT Immunise your baby on time to
get the best protection
Keep anyone with a cough away from your newborn especially until your baby has had 3 whooping cough vaccines.
Booster vaccines for children and adults stop whooping cough spreading to babies.
Immunity fades. You can still get whooping cough, even if you’ve been immunised.
3. PREVENT Whooping cough spreads quickly
when people cough in the early stages of the infection If you have symptoms, see a doctor fast and get tested Early detection and early treatment prevents spread to others Stay home until no longer infectious. Ask your doctor when it’s safe to return to work, school or childcare.

Our school is going to participate in this campaign in December. Anyone who has any school bags that are no longer in use and would like to donate them to the Cambodian children just drop them into the office in December. We will collect as many bags as possible and then they get sent to a depot in Sydney where they will be filled with books & stationery and then shipped to Cambodia for the children. These children have to walk a long way for school and most of them don’t have any thing to carry there necessities in.

School Banking Congratulations on a wonderful year of School Banking! It is great to see lots of students saving regularly and collecting their Dollarmite tokens. In Term 1 next year there will be some new and exciting reward items announced, which can be redeemed for 10 tokens each. Alternatively, your child can continue to collect 30 tokens to redeem for the backpack until the end of Term 2, 2011. Please remember that the School Banking Rewards Program is designed to reward individual savings behaviour so no pooling of tokens will be accepted and for our school to receive commission deposits must be made through School Banking.
