Welcome to the Honoring our Heroes Marathon Relay! Thank you for joining us! Below is what you need to know about doing the Heroes Marathon Relay. 1) Runner #1 boards the bus at Lions Club Park in Rolla at 5:45 AM and will start the race at 7 AM with the other marathoners (OR the team could drop Runner #1 off at the Dent County Commons in Salem and stay to watch the opening ceremony!) 2) Runners 2, 3 & 4 drive to the first checkpoint, located at the intersection of Highways 72 & C (between Miles 6 & 7). 3) When Runner #1 reaches the first checkpoint, he or she gives the timing chip to Runner #2. Secure belt around waist. Runner #2 takes off on foot for the second checkpoint. 4) Runners 1, 3 & 4 drive to the second checkpoint, located at South Old Highway 72 & New Highway 72 (between Miles 12 & 13). (between Miles 19 & 20). Look for this sign at each checkpoint. 6) Runners 1, 2 & 4 drive to the third checkpoint, located at the intersection of Highway 72 and Phelps County Road 5130 5) When Runner #2 arrives at the second checkpoint, he or she gives the timing chip to Runner #3, secure belt around waist. Runner #3 then takes off on foot for the third checkpoint. 7) When Runner #3 arrives at the third checkpoint, he or she gives the timing chip to Runner #4, secure belt around waist. Runner #4 then takes off on foot for Lions Club Park. 8) Runners 1, 2 & 3 then drive to Lions Club Park. Park in the main parking area and IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FINISH TOGETHER AS A TEAM; pick a spot along the course in the park to watch for Runner #4 (cell phones would be great to stay in touch!) When Runner #4 reaches you, join up, circle the lake, and cross the finish line together! Then go inside the Lions Den, join the Post Race Party, and CELEBRATE!
