• In the first part of this movie Joseph (Tom Cruise) is a poor tenant farmer in Ireland. His father is killed in an accident but Joseph blames the landlord Mr. Christy and sets off to kill him. He is discovered by Mr. Christie’s daughter , Shannon (Nicole Kidman), and is to be arrested BUT Shannon wants her independence and both Shannon and Joseph escape together on a boat bound for America. Shannon has brought valuable antique silver spoons to sell to help finance her new life in America.
