With supporters generous donation we staged our 12th Salifest.

Many people took part, including Lewisham Pensioners Ukulele group, a Primary school steel pan band and local secondary pupils with spoken word & piano piece. Our local MP, Janet Daby visited 2nd year in a row and delivered a lovely speech in support of us!A Big Thank You to the many volunteers making Salifest possible. We have fundraised for the repair of the Solar Electricity and have paid for lightning protection and repairs of anything saveable as well as the roof and ceiling. Due to repeated political curfews and Covid19 lockdown we will have to progress on the repair when activities restart. 4 families who could not find anywhere else to live have found a home at the Centre. They contribute to the centre and help with any work that needs doing as well as sharing the cost of the local grid electricity

Alanouwaly Guinea has finally achieved national registration. The paper is temporary to be replaced with a Registration Document

when authority offices are finally properly functioning again

Guinea Centre

As activities had to be stalled housing homeless families is good use of the building for the public benefit and it also helps to look after the centre.

Guinea CentreDue to the curfews and Covid19 lockdown activity interruption the Alanouwaly Guinea group has decided to put their energy into growing more food around the centre and various borrowed land. They continue to keep goats and have now acquired chicken again.

2 Goats at the Centre had triplets and 2 had quadruplets!

20 - 25 kids were born last year and selling some of them brings the

centre a small income

The centre is now home to around 16 chicken and the flock is growing

steadily! They are growing groundnuts around the centre and on

borrowed land above the centre.

Cassava plants

Alanouwaly Guinea has been lent sizeable pieces of land to grow food where they have created an irrigation system to deal with the water before the rainy season arrives. Only food related activities and tailoring (masks have to be worn by law under threat of a fine) are allowed during lockdown.

The world is interconnected and we all have something to give. People from Africa and Europe can help and learn from each other. With the help of our supporters we invest in the Alanouwaly project to help Guineans to improve their lives through their own efforts with dignity. We want to make the very dangerous journey of economic refugees redundant by helping to build prospects at home for a long term solution. And in return we can learn from the many great things Africa has to offer.
