Step 1:

Students choose their favorite children’s story after brainstorming

stories as a class.

Encourage students to read and reread their book or story.

Give students post-it notes to mark important pages, events,

and images in the story.

Discuss and review summarizing with your students.

Set storyboard parameters.

How much time you want them to spend summarizing, how much time you want them to spend drawing and

how much time you intend to spend in iMovie? Print your story boards accordingly!

Step 5:

When storyboards are approved by the teacher, students can begin drawing their illustrations in

Kid Pix.

Step 6:

Show your students how to export their drawings out of the drawing program as .jpg files to the desktop (or a folder), name the picture file to match the scene number and drop them into iPhoto after EACH drawing is

complete.

When students have completed their drawings and all files are exported to iPhoto, create new iMovie HD project and have students record their script or narration on the audio track using the red record button under the media>audio tab.

Tell them to record each scene as a separate audio track!

Before students begin recording audio, encourage them to:

practice their scripts, speak slowly and clearly into the microphone

and use expression!

longthe picture

length will be. Double click on the audio clip to determine it’s duration and set the

photo settings window duration to match the audio track duration.

Hit Apply and the picture will fit perfectly over the audio

track.

prior to recording narration. Have students pull their pictures

into the timeline and set the

picture length for 20+ seconds each. Select the picture clip and use the microphone button

to record a voiceover.
