Advantages of eBooks

Quick and easy access any time Keyword searching
Convenience – don’t need to go to library / carry heavy books / return
books
“They’re a very good resource to
use and find relevant
information”

Disadvantages of eBooks
Top three disadvantages were:
Hard to search Need computer and Internet access
Prefer print books “I feel I tended to scan through them to find what I needed
instead of reading them like I would a normal book”

Recommendations for LRCs 1
We need to buy both: eBooks when available, but buy print copies in addition
Make eBooks more easily accessible:• through the the catalogue • resource discovery service?• embed in course pages and reading
lists on the VLE
