What to do when car skids on icy road?

Car skidding is one the common issues in many countries where the climate is cold and it snows most part of the year. The moment you realize that tires have failed in gaining traction and you may start skidding on road any minute, pull back your foot of the gas immediately. Step 1: Remove the Gas

When a car begins to skid, the first thing that drivers do is pound on brakes suddenly. This is not a solution in fact it creates more trouble. It is not the right way to deal with problem as it will make it difficult. Immediate slamming on brakes will cause tires to lock up in back of car. As a result the chance of regaining traction would decrease.

Step 2: Do Not Slam on the Brakes

You should avoid slamming brakes immediately. As an alternative you should use your foot to tap brakes slowly and with more frequency. This pattern of tapping will help brakes in gaining traction.

Step 3: Tap the Brakes Lightly and Frequently
