BCMM has acknowledged the importance of youth in the functioning of the Metro and has made youth issues a priority.
CHILD AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY
To this end a Child and Youth Development Strategy has been drafted to provide a guiding framework for youth development in BCMM.
The aims of the Child & Youth Development Strategy are:
• To ensure youth meaningfully participates in Government and Civic Affairs
• Creating an enabling environment for youth to become economically active and engage in their own development and their communities development
• The impact of HIV and AIDS and rate of new infections is reduced.
• Drug and alcohol abuse is reduced• Cultural pride is restored and indigenous systems are
promoted within a human rights framework.
VISION
• Fully empowered and united youth, involved in socio-economic development and in the provision of youth friendly services in partnership with relevant stakeholders, resulting in healthy society, decreased levels of HIV and AIDS, crime and abuse.
• Effectively impact on the aims incorporated in the youth development strategy depends on creation of partnerships that will allow for the delivery of a comprehensive range of activities.
