The TTC was created because solving the diversity problem in tech requires a collective effort across companies and sectors. Our mission is to connect the dots NOT to reinvent the wheel.

There is no magic bullet solution. Only by organisations working together can we solve the problem./>

<And there are obstacles. />

‘We don't know where

to begin with our

inclusion strategy’

‘We have tried to find candidates from

more diverse backgrounds to fill our roles,

but we haven’t succeeded and don’t know

what else we can do’

‘We know other companies are leading

on D&I but we don’t have the contacts

(or budget) to get help to do the same’

‘So many of our females leave us

about 5-10 years into their

career’

‘We struggle to get people to return to

work after taking family leave or they

leave soon after returning’

‘We don’t have a dedicated resource

or team to focus on this’

‘We know we need to make flexible

and remote working a success, but

we don’t know how to change our

‘facetime’ culture’

‘We have no budget for consultants

or expensive external memberships’

‘We have no idea how to implement a successful returner

programme and have limited resource to invest in this’

<At the Tech Talent Charter we have had enough

talking about why this problem matters. We focus

on how to address it. />

<Common questions /> Do you have an executive summary?Yes. Tech Talent Charter Executive Summary

Do I have to already be leading in the inclusion and diversity space? No. We have companies joining at all stages of the journey. Some are well on the way to reaping the benefits of

good practice while others are just starting out their journey.

Is my company the right type of company to become a Signatory? Yes. We welcome any organisation that has a vested interest in improving inclusion and diversity in tech either as an

employer, consultant, recruiter or as an organisation that is active in the inclusion space. The TTC is for organisations of all sizes, from start-ups to large multinationals, spanning all industry sectors from entertainment to banking.

How much time will this take us? What do we have to do?As little or as much as you like. Some Signatories are very involved by participating in our events and our

Hackathons, have volunteers on our Ambassador Programme or have sponsored an aspect of our Toolkit or an event. Other Signatories might just follow the conversation on Twitter and LinkedIn and share good practice and ideas within their organisation. Our expectation is simply that Signatories continue to share what works and what doesn’t and to provide data on annually.

What is the cost? No. There is no membership fee. Our business model is based on a mix of sponsorship and government funding.

Will I be required to provide data annually?Yes. We believe that data is the starting point to driving measurable change. Failure to complete and submit annual

data by the deadline will result in an organisation being removed as a TTC Signatory.
