What’s the difference between the ACT and the SAT? The ACT is a standardized test that measures high school achievement and is used for college admission and scholarships. The SAT is more of an aptitude test, testing

reasoning and verbal abilities.

The next test date is October

24th . The deadline to register

without a late fee is

September 18th.

The Cost is $39.50. Fee waivers are available for students on free/reduced lunch. A total of two fee waivers may be used while

in high school. All juniors will take the ACT free of charge at WEHS on March 1,

2015.

It is highly recommended that you take the

October 14th PSAT AND the October 24th ACT if you intend to apply for the Kentucky

Governor’s Scholars Program.

• Make sure you take the PSAT and the ACT!

What is it?For three weeks every summer, over 200 of Kentucky’s most talented and creative high school students are invited to grow and learn together at the Governor’s School for the Arts’ college summer residence program.  Rising juniors and seniors in high school are offered in-depth instruction in one of nine artistic disciplines: architecture + design, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theatre, new media, visual art, and vocal music.

Art ShopsOn a smaller scale than GSA’s summer program, ArtShops provide a

similar immersion experience. Each fall, GSA schedules four workshops in communities throughout Kentucky.  The purpose of these ArtShops is to provide high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors with the opportunity to spend a day in a facility close to their hometown in a hands-on arts enrichment opportunity.

If you are interested in anything business related, this 3-week summer program is for you!

What will you do?1. Work in business teams to build and design a

prototype of your product or service idea.2. Give business pitches to a panel of outside judges.3. Eligible for one credit on high school transcript.4. Earn digital badges.5. Eligible for college scholarships.

It will be from June 12 – July 2, 2016

• You get 1 excused absence per semester. All you have to do is request a letter from the college proving you were on their campus.

• Visiting a college does NOT mean you are attending! You are shopping for schools. This allows you to narrow your choices to a few that you would like to apply to next year.

• Receive reminders on ACT deadlines, when Josten's will be visiting as well

as other Guidance Office Information!  Send a text message

to: (704) 869-2793 with the message: @wehscl.  This will put you

on a list to receive reminders from me!
