    This has become a growing concern for nations all over the

    world. Years of thoughtless exploitation of nature by man

    has resulted in putting even our own survival at stake.

    What is Climate Change

    Climate change is a change in long-term weather patterns.

    They can become warmer or colder.Annual amounts of rainfall or snowfall can increase or decrease.

    Climate change causes extinction of species, and pollution of life-

    upporting air and water

    One of the reasons why our climate is changing is because man-made

    hemicals are being released in the atmosphere.

    Some toxins are absorbed down and reach the ground water and

    ollute it to the extent that it can't be used by animals/human beings

    or drinking or cooking.

    What is Global Warming?

    lobal warming refers to an average increase in the Earth's

    emperature, which in turn causes changes in climate. A warmer Eart

    ay lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide

    ange of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans. When scientists talk

    bout the issue of climate change, their concern is about global

    arming caused by human activities.

    Many of the world's leading climate scientists think that thingspeople do are helping to make the Earth warmer.

    Our rubbish

    Versus

    Our Environmentroducing, distributing, storing and cooking food uses energy, fue

    nd water. Each of these emits greenhouse gases contributing to

    imate change.

    Think of a pack of cheese. The resources that go into raising the

    ows, processing the milk, transporting the cheese, refrigeration,

    e fuel we use to drive to the shop to buy it - all this to put it in

    e bin at the end of the week.

    n fact in the UK we throw away the equivalent of more than

    hree million slices of cheese a day!

    nce a week the bin lorry comes to your house to empty your

    heelie bin. The bin lorry takes all the rubbish to the landfill

    te. The landfill site is a big hole in the ground, and all the

    ubbish in the big lorry gets dumped into it.

    Diggers spread out the rubbish and squash it

    all down to make room for more rubbish. Once

    it is full up, it is covered with soil to hide it.

    The problem is, all our landfill sites are

    getting fuller and fuller, and soon we will

    need some new ones. Landfills are ugly,smelly and dangerous and contributing to

    climate change.

    total amount of food thrown

    away in the UK comes from

    our homes. We throw away

    7.2 million tons of food and

    drink from our homes every

    year in the UK, and more

    than half of this food and

    drink we could have eaten

    Wasting this food costs

    the average household

    480 a year, raising to

    680 for a family withchildren, the equivalent of

    around 50 a month
