MISSIONS AND EVANGELISM
CENTRAL'S RAMP MINISTRYLast Saturday, Central sponsored a ramp for Tim and Lula Wiley of 1209 37th Avenue. RonnieWalton recalls fond memories of living in that residence for four years when his family first movedto Meridian. Ronnie purchased the ramp materials in memory of his parents, Russell and MattieEllen Walton. Labor was provided by John David Barr, Alan Brown, Jimmy Carle, KristinaCrabtree, Jonathan Crabtree, Randy Hammon, Bill Jacob, Tom Johnson, Blair Mitcham, BenRucks, Mark Scarborough, Sonny Wedgeworth, and James Whitley, with the guidance andassistance of Jerry Fox of Hopewell UMC (Kemper Co.). The fellowship and service were enjoyedby all, and the Wileys were extremely pleased with their ramp. For reference, Bill Jacob of CentralUMC won the "attention to detail prize" by pointing out that the ramp was advertised to be 37 feetbut was really 42 feet. For that, he will receive a free sausage and biscuit from Hardee's the nexttime Central puts on a build. Please congratulate Bill when you see him at church of wherever. The more Ramp Builds you work, the easier it is to spot those errors.
OUR AUGUST MONTHLY MISSIONThis month in August, we will be highlighting the Meridian District Ramp Ministry. The DistrictRamp Ministry's goal is to make a difference one ramp at a time for men, women, and childrenwho are elderly or disabled. The district ministry serves five counties: Lauderdale, Newton,Kemper, Neshoba, and Clarke. Volunteers are needed to dedicate one morning a week, andwithout more volunteers, the ministry itself may not be able to continue. Please contact KristinaCrabtree at 601.513.1868 or email her at [email protected] if you have questions or wouldlike to volunteer. Any monetary donations are welcome also.
