1. Spread the wordOnce you’ve picked a time and place, get an email out, share the date on social media and use the poster in your pack to invite everyone you know.

3. Plan how you’re going to raise moneyWhether you’re having a tea break with work mates, catching up with a few good friends or hosting an all-out tea party, there are lots of ways you can boost your fundraising.

Charge an entry feeIf it’s a small and cosy Brew Monday event perhaps ask each person to make a one-off donation of £5 or £10 and then let them drink and eat as much as they like!

Raff les and tombolasA raffle or tombola can help boost the money you raise. Ask local businesses to contribute prize items. Remember, legally you can’t sell raffle tickets before the event date without a proper license.

Fun and gamesGet creative! How about a ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ or ‘Pin the cherry on the cake’ for a £1 a go?

Spare change (and spare notes!)Proudly display your Brew Monday collection box and ask for donations on the day.

Sell cakes! You have your army of bakers, now use our handy cake labels to write prices on and charge for a slice, or two!

Leftovers as take-awaysIf you’re lucky enough to have lots of sweet treats donated, sell off any leftovers before the end of your event. Why not plan ahead and get some cake boxes in? A friendly local bakery might donate cake boxes if you tell them it’s for Samaritans.

5. Thank people for comingThank everyone for taking the time to pop by and join you for a cuppaon Brew Monday. Tell everyone what a difference their donations will make.

Every six seconds, someone contacts Samaritans for help. Whatever they’re facing, we listen and help them find the strength to move on. We couldn’t do this without your support.

6. Pay in the money raisedIt couldn’t be easier! Pay your money in online at samaritans.org/brewmonday

2. Get your baking team sorted!Ask friends, colleagues and neighbours if they’d be willing volunteers and join you in baking goodies for your Brew Monday event to help boost donations. Local bakeries and supermarkets might also be happy to contribute.

”VIC REEVESCOMEDIAN AND SAMARITANS SUPPORTER

“I called because I was embarrassed and ashamed that I couldn’t handle mywork load and pressures. I didn’t feel confident to tell friends or family. But with Samaritans it was okay, they didn’t judge me, they just listened.”

“Samaritans supported me in my darkest times, especially when my depression affected my work so much so that I ended up losing my job because of it. They got me through and I feel so much more comfortable with talking about everything.”

By texting BREW 5 to 70507, you will be charged £5 plus one standard network rate message. Samaritans will receive 100%. Registered charity number 219432. Text BREW 5 NO to opt out of future marketing communications.

£208 could keep Samaritans phone line open for one hour

Whether it’s the cold winter months or the start of a new week, anyone can feel overwhelmed. Samaritans knows how much it can help if you encourage someone to talk when they’re struggling to cope.
