What is anWhat is an“Active Shooter”“Active Shooter”

An Active Shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in

a confined and populated area; in most cases, active shooters use

firearms(s) and there is no pattern or method to their selection

of victims.

What is “Active Shooter Interdiction”

“Active Shooter Interdiction” is the process of stopping an active shooter from killing people by putting oneself in direct

confrontation with the shooter.

The most important objective is to stop the killing with equal force on force. No concern is to be had for negotiation or a fair

fight. Usually the best option is to kill the shooter as soon as possible preferably with a head shot. This is the quickest way to end the killing on innocents and may, and if the shooter is

wearing explosives, to save even more lives.

In a Study ofActive Shooter Incidents

in the United Statesin a 14 year period

2000 to 2013 reveals:

The F.B.I.

The study results identified areas where the

160 incidents occurred:

73 / 45.6% Areas Of Commerce. Businesses and Malls 39 / 24.4% Educational environments 15 / 9.4% Open spaces 16 / 10.0% Government properties

11 / 6.9% Non-Military government properties 5 / 3.1% Military properties

7 / 4.4% Residences 6 / 3.8% Houses of worship 4 / 2.5% Health care facilities

Combine top two areas:45.6% plus 24.4% = 70.0% of the incidents occur

where you and I go every day.

Areas Where Shootings Occurred

An active shooting isn’t restricted to a big city or a nationally recognized school, business or city.

They can take place in any state, city or township, at any time and in any location.

While high-profile shootings have occurred at schools and colleges, they can also occur in all kinds of business

settings or even an open environment such as a street or parking lot.

Shootings can occur in a private or public sector facility, a hard or soft target, and in a restricted or unrestricted

location.

Where?

10 Lessons Learned from the FBI Study on Active Shooters

1 Active Shooter incidents are increasing. 2 More than 15% of the incidents involved shootings at multiple locations. 3 The killers initiated the assault with the killing of a family member in almost 10% of attacks.4 The majority of the incidents (56%) ended by the shooter 痴 own initiative.5 Unarmed citizens ended a significant number (13%) of events. 6 Only 1.3% of the shootings involved more than one shooter.7 The majority of the shootings took place in a business. 8 Almost half of the officers who were shot while responding to active killer incidents were shot OUTSIDE9 Time is a huge factor in response tactics. 10 Police departments and other training organizations need to provide armed (and unarmed citizens with quality active killer training classes).

Greg Ellifritz Copy of this article available to viewers.

The active shooter could be a current or former student, or employee, or just shooting at random.

What we believe determines our character and our actions.

It is futile to try to predict who will such crimes. To do so would rob all of us of our liberty.

The solution is for all of to be vigilent, prepared and skilled to stop it when it starts to happen.

What Kind Of Person

It is not the muggers in the streets of our cities, we can avoid them and is not the bank robbers, they are in their

offices in high rise buildings in New York.

Is not an occasional craizise or meth head that breaks loose.

It is Islamic Jihad Terrorists and their goal is the formation of a world wide sharia law.

And it is behind them it is the globalist and international engineers that are destroying our

national sovereignity.

Who is our enemy?

In their minds, their goal will be brought out by killing as many of the infidels (that is us by the way) as possible

before they themselves are killed.

They have their cells and training camps in every one of the 48 states. They are coming toward our community. They can not be reasoned with. We cannot avoid this,

hope that it won't happen to us is not an acceptable plan of action.

II. The Solution

“Run – Hide – Fight”? Is definitely not the best solution.

This does nothing to stop the carnage—it actually perpetuates it.

It is making a fun game for the active murder's

enjoyment.

It is morally wrong for one person (that could have been prepared) to use killing process of others to

provide for their flight to safety.

What Is Not The Solution?

Is to Meet Force with Force

Immediately, Directly and Violently

Attach the Shooter, even if no one is armed with a weapon. If six people violently attach an active

shooter is is likely that one of them will be killed...If they don't attack the it is probable

that they all will die.

The best thing is for the intended victim to react. The sooner the better.

The Only Acceptable Solution

If the civilian/officer interdicts he has more than a 50% chance of success.

Emphasis the “more”.

The CCW person has the element of surprise and the shooter is not prepared to fight an equal opponent

and the good guy has the moral high ground.

He is probably more efficient with a firearm than the “Active Killer”

What father would not have given his life to be there in Connecticut with a pistol to kill the killer before those children were sacrificed on the

altar of politically correct, egalitarian, gun-free America?”

Gabe Suarez

The law men are paid professionals who want to go home at night. This is not bad but something more is needed and that

is “Sheep Dogs”.

The Best Fighter

The absolute best response to the active killer is for

a competent, willing armed law enforcement officer or citizen who is at the scene of the event when it begins. The active killer problem is solved by

Absolute Best Response

Every Man and WomanA First Responder

“Over and over we see that no matter how well equipped and trained a police force may be, they will never be

there on time to prevent the terrorist or active shooter from doing what he is planning to do.  Sure, the police will respond after the fact, but if you are one of the first

ones to die, it will still be too late.  Even at Virginia-Tech, with the police a couple of blocks away, the

shooter was still able to kill a huge number of victims.  Our answer to this - make every man and woman

there a first responder with the tools to eliminate the terrorist.”

From Gabe Suarez Active Shooter Interdiction Course

The majority of active shooters continue shooting and killing until they are opposed.

It is important to remember this. Less than one in five in a NYPD study of active shooter incidents in the US were stopped by anything other than external force

being brought to bear.

An interesting point is that once even mild opposition or the threat of opposition was encountered, most

active shooters kill themselves. Very few attempt to engage responding individuals or units.

Our Enemy Government

Our Enemy Government is doing the opposite of what is right for us.

It is trying to disarm us when they should be encouraging us to arm ourselves and facilitating

our training to be our own protectors.

We can protect ourselves better than they can protect us.

We need to recognize that our government has become our enemy.

Gun control is not about controlling guns butAbout controlling people.

“Experts in the field of active shooter interdiction state that, on average, once the shooting starts,

another victim is shot every 8 seconds. Two minutes = 120 seconds = 15 victims.”

Average response time is 17 minutes

The average “killing spree” last 10 – 15 minutes which allows killing up to 70+ innocents.

All this is done before the police can get there.Resource Grossman videos

That’s how long it takes a specially trained ... officer to cross a campus during a crisis.

It is how long it takes him or her to draw a gun and shoot the bad guy in the head:

“When it comes to defending citizens against such mayhem, the police track record is abysmal, and

these instances prove that they cannot be counted on to save lives. They appear to be more like janitors

who clean up the mess afterwards rather than guardians.” Brandon Smith

This is not because they are bad lawmen but because they can't be everywhere all the time.

The inherent deficiency of deployed or outside intervention to an active shooter is its deficiency

first in time and second in intel. But “we” can.

The Police Track RecordIs Abysmal

Sheepdog Mindset

If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your

fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath–a wolf.

But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a

sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk

out unscathed... Dave Grossma

It Begins in the Mind

The role of “Protector” cannot be assigned. You cannot order a Pekinese to turn into a Pitbull.

It is a self selected action. The mother that protects her children from the killer has self-

selected to be protector. The father that runs into the burning building to save the

child self-selects to be protector.

ASI is an application of the “SheepDog” mindset and discipline.

Mind Set* Calm and clear thinking must me maintained, every action needs to be processed.* Must have accurate knowledge of what is happening.

* We must be Decisive, Aggressive, Ruthless.* Prepared to be fired upon. Prepared to continue fighting if hit.

* Prepared to encounter and bypass casualties.* Flexible, ready to adapt and improvise to win.

* Maintain stealth as long as possible, then burst with fiery vengence.* If the sheepdog dies the sheep has no hope “risk management' is necessary

Since the American cival war we have not known war on our soil. Our wars have been in other countries.

But now!

War has come to the America's soil.We must recognize and act accordingly.

To deny this fact will hasten and heighten our destruction.

This means we should think like, dress like and train to be

Denial is Certain Death.

It kills you once, at your moment of truth when you are not physically prepared: You didn’t bring your gun; you didn’t train. Your only defense was wishful thinking. Denial kills you a second time

because even if you do physically survive, you are psychologically shattered by fear, helplessness,

horror and shame at your failure in the moment of truth.

“All that good men have to do for evil to prevail, is nothing”

Hope is not a strategy.

EscapeGet yourself and others out of harm's way. Includes going to a

EngageFight the shooter(s). Fight can become flight or vice-versa.

“Fort Up”Find a covered position that limits access to the shooter(s).

* Don't hesitate. If shots have been heard innocent people are dying. If you can hear shots try to discern if it is pistol or rifle. If you A.S.B. is not with you make an instant decision weather to get it or go in with out it.

* Tell people to call 911 “Good Guy” is in there and wearing a blue bandanna around his neck. do not depend on one person to do this, it will help them if they can do something.

When to go Go In

Yell “Police!!!”In a recent school shooting, a school resource officer yelled “Police!” as he ran to the shooter’s position in the school. The shooter killed himself when he heard the officer loudly approaching. His use of verbal identification doubtless saved many lives because it caused the shooter to take appropriate personal action before the SRO could reach him. The Sandy Hook shooter did the same thing. He killed himself when he heard approaching sirens. These individuals can inflict pain, misery and suffering on others regardless of how young or harmless they are, but they would rather cause their death at their own hands rather than endure what they consider pain and suffering inflicted upon them at the hands of another. So I would make all the law-enforcement-related noise I could when moving towards the shooter in order to trigger a shooter suicide instead of using a silent approach. It has been proven at least twice to work. http://www.tactical-life.com/tactics/active-shooter-takedowns/#as-gwlefm-car

"Hunter vs. "Bunker"

The "Hunter"vs. the "Bunker"Mentality

The bunker mentality reflects a desire to stay safe and protected. I'm OK right here and if that bad guy comes, I am ready for him."

There are times when staying in a sheltered, protected spot makes sense.

But when people are being killed nearby and you have the tools, the opportunity and whatever skill you possess and say you want to make a difference or protect society, then staying in the bunker

mindset and remaining where it is safe for you is not going to help others. You have to make a choice.

Going after a Terrorist Active Shooter requires a hunter mindset.

The hunter mindset is proactive. It reflects a willingness to "go to the fight"instead of waiting for the fight to come to you.

https://www.policeone.com/active-shooter/articles/196999006-The-value-of-CCW-first-responders-in-active-shooter-situations/

CourageRemember, courage is doing what you have to do

when you feel fear.

By making conscious decisions now of what you are going to do, living your values and then doing it when

it counts, you can develop the hunter mindset.

Decide now. Live your values in your everyday life.

Stop posting on Facebook about your readiness to respond.

Shut up and live it.

The Hunter Mindset

The hunter mindset is a life choice based on values and how you prioritize and live them. You strengthen the mindset by defining your values and committing to them even at risk to

your own life. Then you live them in your everyday life as part of who you are. In the end, how you respond will reflect

your value and priorities.

Confidence in yourself and your abilities is part of your self image and will influence your choices. However, you can do

all the training you want. It is different when you have to actually go into harm’s way and your "moment of truth"

arrives. For me, when I was full time law enforcement, most times I didn’t think much about the dangers, I just went into

action. I made my choices long before.

Locate an EliminateGo to the sound of gunfire!!

Do not be distracted by crying, screeming, blody bodies.

When you find the shooter, if possible, position yourself to take him out with no collateral damage.

If you have to expose yourself try to time your move with his distractions, movements.

If he is looking the other way there is your chance

– shoot him in the back of the head.

If he is shooting people there is only one thing to do – shoot him down.

Observe the ShooterIf the shooter is actively shooting do not talk – shoot to kill.

Consider that shooter may have protective vest making head shots necessary.

Watch for shooter being distracted.

Should the suspect barricade himself in a room or other structure or take hostages the scenario and priorities

change to one of containment, aid and evac for the injured, scene preservation, and the use of additional resources.

Remember the plus 1 principle. If there is one there is likely to be more. Not seeing something doesn't make it

harmlessness.

You verbalize and challenge

ONLYwhen you are not certain of what is

going on and then ONLY from behind solid cover.

“If you have enough to justify shooting, then shut our trap and work the trigger.” Suarez

Talk takes time and time cost lives.

When to Talk

A Terrorist Rifle In Hand Killing People

is not the same as a street mugger. The terrorist, by his actions, gives you license to do things that

would never be justified if the adversary was different.

Keep these things in mind. You may be at ground zero tomorrow.

Gabe Suarez

A Terrorist Killing Peopleis different from a street mugger

What About Body Armor

There is not been any significant use of body armor. But it is to be expected. Our enemy's attacks are

growing in frequency and sophistication. We should assume that the shooter has armor or gear or equipment

that would defeat our well place shot.

Lets train for head shots. No well placed “delayed fatal” shot in the torso. We don't want our shot to be fatal after he discovers our

presence and position and takes us out and proceeds to murder a dozen more people.

Forget Pelvic ShotsGabe Suarez:The notion of the Pelvic Shot came from the Internal Affairs world of LE where many gauge the avoidance of wrongful death lawsuits against the agency of greater import than lives of LE Officers they employ.

The use of the Pelvic Girdle as a primary target, in lieu of a head shot, with the intent to immediately stop and adversary, is a flawed tactic and I am surprised some continue to suggest it in the context that they do.

Insofar as the Pelvic Girdle Shots go, it does not take a degree in medicine to realize that the pelvic bone is not connected to the hands, nor the brain, and that a pelvic shot – even if successful – will not stop a terrorist from continuing to fire, or setting off an explosive.

What About ExplosivesWhen engaging anyone that you suspect or know to be carrying a wearing a bomb prioritize two things if possible:

Maintain Distance and Make Head Shots* Explosives may be sensitive to kinetic impact and you want to avoid setting it off.* Dead-man switches are rare. For practical reasons suicide bombers tend to use some sort of positive activation..If shots to the body does not kill him immediately he will still be able to detonate a device.* There may be a backup with a remote detonator who will set the bomb off if the carrier goes down. This is also why you do not want to approach a downed attacker even if it appears clear to do so.

Best option is shooting from distance from behind good cover.

Remember to move after successful engagement.CF Williams

Cover Stops BulletsConcealment Does Not

Fast move and pause to assess. Use to move across large open areas.

A Point of domination is an position that allows a good guy to have cover, a good shooting position

that dominates and covers a large area.

Keep your presence unknown until you are ready.

Cover and Concealment

Virtually every school has a lock down procedure of some kind in place for

emergency situations. Most classroom doors are metal cased outward opening and would be difficult to breach without proper equipment and training. Unless there is an indication that the suspect is inside a locked room, screaming, shots being fired etc, locked rooms should be

bypassed.

Locked Doors

It may be necessary to attempt a door or window breach if it is determined that the suspect is inside a locked room

and is actively shooting people. An inward opening wooden door can be breached with a makeshift ram, a heavy fire extinguisher, large rock, or

other heavy solid object. Even a makeshift ram is preferable to kicking which will work on a wooden door if

necessary. If a window is available it can be broken out and raked clean. Even if entry is impractical through the

window breaching it may allow you to engage the suspect.

Breaching Doors

To do nothing when one could have been prepared and able to defend the innocent is to share share in the guilt of the

enemy.

What you would feel like if you were standing outside a school listening to the gun fire knowing that ever shot was killing a child and you had left you gun at home.

Could live comfortably with that thought for the rest of your life?

8 Conditions You Might Be In

* Single shooter, in sight of shooter, close range* More than one shooter, in sight of shooters, close range

* Single shooter, out of sight of shooter close range* Multiple shooters, out of sight of shooters, close range

* Single shooter, in sight of shooter, long range* Multiple shooters, in sight of shooters, long range

* Multiple shooters, out of sight of shooters, long range* When it's All Over (If you are still on-site or in area)

Facing the Active Shooter, CF Williams

Pick a place where you can stop, get out, check gear and orient yourself without coming under fire. An example would be a windowless wall at the rear of a building on campus.

Don't be afraid to drive across the grounds to accomplish this. Again prior familiarization with the campus is critical. Movement to Contact (Plans for crossing large open areas to initial entry point or building to building.)

Heavy fire from suspect may dictate another entry point.

CommunicationsAfter the threat is nuturalized then:

Communication is the most critical aspect of any tactical operation. 2-way radios are great

It might be good to simply call 911 and stay on the line with them describing what you have done and are doing and

coordinating with the good guys coming in.

It is critical that you stay in contact with someone on the outside.

Communicate to the crowd – Speak to them with instructions to counter confusion and fear.

Ask some them to do something to help releave the stress

Light Discipline

The suspects may have affected lighting at the school. If flashlights are necessary, remember they betray your presence. Do not leave light on continuously. Avoid being backlit. Be cognizant that your shadow can be seen, even under a door from a closed room.

The Aftermath

If law men are coming in with or without previous communication disarm yourself and demonstrate

harmlessness and submission.

Communicate all information they need concerning the circumstances but limit what you say about yourself.

Be aware of the legal ramifications.

Do not talk with the news media.Do not talk with law officers with legal counsel.

You verbalize and challenge

ONLY

when you are not certain of what is going on and then ONLY from behind solid cover.

If you have enough to justify shooting, then shut our trap and work the trigger. Suarez

Talk takes time and time cost lives.

Downed/Injured Victims

Downed/Injured Victims

Wounded, bleeding, dying children or teacher

friends and officers must be bypassed until the threat has been eliminated.

Mental preparation for this possibility is critical.

Other Responders

During an extraordinary deployment at a school shooting the first priority is to find and stop the

suspect. It is important to remember that there may be other armed individuals on the school grounds. Teachers who retrieved a weapon from their vehicle, off duty

or plain clothes officers..., parents who were on campus or nearby when the event began.

The emotion and chaos of a school shooting scene c can confuse everything.

How to “Not Get Shot”When law enforcement gets to the scene disarm yourself.

Lay you gun down in a visible place.Make your open hands very visible.

If you can, throw your I.D. Drivers license and CCW permit on the floor where the officers can see it.

Wear a bandanna or some prominent clothing that you can tell bystanders when you go in to tell the law professionals that you

the good guy is wearing. Don't move toward police.

Use you cell phone to talk with 911 who can relay your message to the police that are coming in.

Don't Get Shot By The First Responders

Gabe Suraze--- I want to discuss how first responders select

targets and how you might position yourself so that you are not selected as a target. The concern is that the good guy CCW, or off duty LEO, taking

out the terrorist might be misidentified by responding police and shot.

Police shoot one of their own every 18 months around the nation in everyday police work, so it is a very plausible event. Contributing factors seem

to be as follows

You are more likely to be shot if the first thing the police see is the profile of a

firearm.

You are more likely to be shot by police if, when challenged, you begin to turn toward them. This is problematic as it is a

natural reaction for humans to turn toward the sound of yelling. Specially the case if it is behind

them.

First, forget range readies, and don't bring a rifle. Shoot the bad guy when you

need to shoot him, as many times as you need to shoot him (don't forget the IEDs that are likely

there) and then do what you can to hide the image of the gun.

Second, a black gun is more easily covered and hidden than a bright and shiny one. Yes, Black Guns Matter. I have

BBQ guns like anyone else. But the guns I carry daily all tend to be drab colored, not bright

colored. A dull gun gets overlooked while the glint from a bright one gets attention.

Three, you do not need to cover the bad guy at gunpoint as you stand over him

like they do on TV.

He might look dead but be able to detonate explosive. (I.E.D)

Fourth, consider that first impressions will often dictate the conversation.

Finally, if possible, it would be an advantage to carry a weapon similar to

what police officers are using.

If challenged, do not turn with the weapon, nor bring it up.

Leave it as is and wait for instructions. If you see the first responders coming, get rid of the

firearm if tactically safe, take a knee with both hands up and yell back loud as possible “Don't

Shoot”

Remember - the idea is to create a moment of doubt about your

predetermined status as bad guy.

Maybe holding an open wallet overhead with an ID card showing is a good idea...a plus if its your CCW. One agency I have worked with teaches to hold the pistol in tight one handed Sul, the badge in the offhand overhead, and to take a knee. Not a

bad idea if everyone knows what this is.

Good Guy Visible I.D.

Wear something like a blue (any bright color) around arm or neck and tell people as you go in “call 911 good guy in and

wearing blue bandanna”.

Show I.D. and CCW card. If needed thrown them on floor away from yourself with hands up and open.

Maybe holding an open wallet overhead with I.D. and CCW cards showing.

Remember when the police arrive everyone is a suspect to them.

Three Parts of A.S.I. Equipment

Pistol: Always ready for instant deployment. If shots are being fired

and you can't get you A.S.I. Bag on the way do without it. People are dying every 8 seconds.Equipment that is always

on your person: Pistol, Ammo, Knife, Light.

Rifle: A must because the shooting killer usually has a rifle. Pistol

against rifle doesn't give much hope of success.

Medical: to save wounded

Pistol or Rifle?

Both

If you have a rifle develop proficiency for ASI, carry it at least close by (in the car/truck).

Train yourself for head shots out to 25 yards. We must choose the equipment that is especially applicable to

the objective. What is the equipment of the enemy, that is what we must match.

The A.S.I. Pistol

Should be pistol (semiauto) in the caliber you are accurate with.

Longer site radius is better, more accurate

You need more than one extra mag of ammo.

33 round mags are nice.

Remember on average 1 our of 4 shots hit their target.

The A.S.I. Rifle

Small (assault) rifle with high capacity magazines(30 rounders)

It should have a folding stock so it can concealed in a bag.

The bag should not look military, tactical, camouflage.

You want to be able to walk through a crowd people and no one will know you have a rifle in your bag. Take out the gun

only when you are about to face the enemy.

If people hear shooting and see you running with a rifle they will immediately assume you are another shooting killer.

ASI Bag

If the good guy is inside the area where the shooter is he may not want to leave the scene but

if he is out side the shooter's presence then it might be that he should get his ASI bag. Take it

with him without opening it unless the shooter is close. It is a trade-off between fire power and

time to get to the bad guy. Pistol against is pistol at close range might be acceptable but pistol

against assault rifle at 25 yards puts the good guy with a pistol at a distinct disadvantage. If you can hear shots maybe you could decide if its pistol or rifle being used to do the bad stuff. If there are

two good guys one can proceed toward the sounds of the shots and the other get the ASI bag.

Regular Range Visits

* Don't be satisfied with bulls eye or silhouette targets.

* Make sure you learn to shoot moving and with both hands.

* Use reactive targets at different ranges, several targets at different ranges.

* Practice using cover.

* Practice Combat and Tactical reloads

Dry FiringMost professional competition shooters include “Dry

Firing” in their regular practice.A free dry fire document and program is free for the

viewers of this presentation.

Steven Gilcreast, Senior Instructor www.sigsauer.comIn nearly every course we are asked a common question: What

can I do to improve? The response is the same nearly each time. If you are not conducting dry practice, you should start now. Dry practice is simply practicing and developing your firearms skills without live ammunition. You can train nearly every part of your firearms manipulations minus the flash and bang of the muzzle and the cycling of the action. Dry practice is—in our opinion—

one of the most beneficial methods of training with your firearm.

I.D.P.A.The International Defensive Pistol Association ... a shooting

sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real life encounters...

One of the unique facets of this sport is that it is geared toward the new or average shooter, yet is fun, challenging and

rewarding for the experienced shooter. The founders developed the sport so that practical gear and practical guns may be used competitively. An interested person can spend a

minimal amount on equipment and still be competitive.

The main goal is to test the skill and ability of the individual, not equipment or gamesmanship. “Competition only”

equipment is not permitted in this sport.

Skill Defined

The definition of a skill is a talent or ability that comes from training or practice.

Two part definition:1. Talent or Ability

You will never rise to the occiasionBut

You will Default to your level of training.

Markmanship

Point shooting has a place but not in crowd of innocent people, pro-active shooting like this

requires traditional marksmanship. Be deliberate! Watch your front sight and press carefully

and repeatedly with your mouth shut.Aimed sustained fire – Shoot the bad gun until his is

down. On average one bullet in four hits target.Practice shooting a a 4x6 index card at 25 yards with

great speed. In a crisis one will not rise to the occasion but will

default to his level of training.

Speed is fine but Accuracy is final.

Shoot With One HandLearn to Shoot With One Hand

* Because you don't know which hand would be the best.* You may need either had to help someone as you shoot (a child * that needs cleared from danger)* A hand with out a gun may secure one's body to make the shot.* Don't give in to the weak hand* You can use cover better with one hand(arm) showing. Don't plan on the best case scenario.* Using one hand could help with accuracy because of the complexity of getting two hands working together the same every time. If the hands don't come together the same and the grip is different then the shot placement will probably be different.

A fast noise never saved anyone.

Speed is secondary because accuracy is final.

Be Realistic In Your Practice

You will not develop satisfactory A.S.I. skills standing in lane in an indoor range.

You need to move and shoot.Be equally accurate with both hands.Learn to use cover and concealment.

Draw and reload (slide lock and tactical).Practice with what you carry.

Don't just shoot paper.

I.D.P.A. matches develop all the above.

A Best Case Serino is all most never realized. If the shooter has Intent ability opportunity then shoot to kill

hit him anywhere you can. Never prepare for the best case serino , that rarely comes.

Be repetitious on the fundamental skills that have universal application.

I Support Armed CitizensI support armed citizens not because I think having a gun makes anyone invincible, or because it guarantees the citizen will win against an active shooter. I support armed citizens because I believe in the following principles (among others).

1. Armed citizens have a better chance of surviving a mass shooting than unarmed citizens.

2. During a mass shooting, armed citizens have a better chance of saving others than unarmed citizens.

3. An armed citizen can save lives even if he or she misses the suspect, because a suspect scared of getting shot is going to turn his attention away from unarmed victims who pose no threat.

4. You don’t deter crime by being a compliant victim.

Government Safety is and Illusion

The authorities are not and never will be in a position to “make you safe”. Safety under the wing of government is an illusion. Governments enact laws and then enforce punishment, but rarely do they ever actually “protect” anyone.

Law enforcement will never be able to reduce response time to the point in which they would be a superior option to you defending yourself.

You will always be there when the trouble occurs; they will most likely not show up until you are dead. Teachers Arm yourself

Church is not a Safe Place

It sounds reasonable to think the the church is a place of peace and quite. But this is not the case when the enemy is aggressively coming to us.

If half of Active Shooters

If over half of active shooters are stopped by a CCW or even an unarmed citizen, how many more might have been stopped if an everyday

man or woman had received training on responding to and confronting an active shooter?

When Innocents are at Risk Disobey the Law

“When a law is unconstitutional or puts innocent people at physical risk, the only option left is nullification by the citizenry. If federal law is

preventing teachers from saving their own lives and the lives of their students, then they have two

choices: tempt fate, gamble on death, or break the law, defy school policy, and carry a weapon...Forget

the law. If you’re not armed, you won’t get them before they get you and the children around you.

That is all you need to worry about.” Brandon Smith

Our Enemy must not defeat us by mere verbal intimidation.

What History Says:

When an armed citizen has been present, there have still been casualties, but here have been fewer casualties when armed

citizens have intervened than when victims had to wait for police to respond

to an active shooter. CRWilliams

What Reality Indicates:

There needs to be someone armed, officially or not on the scene if an active

shooter is going to be either stopped early or prevented

from acting the first place.Facing the Active Shooter CR Williams

What the Odds Say:

Official presence—police or armed and properly trained security (which I unlikely

in the lowest-bidder environment that most business clients of security companies foster) will not be present the moment

someone starts rendomly shooting people.Facing the Active Shooter CR Williams

What You Can Do:

Study and train, not just for this, but in preparation for any violent assault against you and others. Prepare yourself for when you are armed and when you are not. Be

Would you want teachers in your schools carrying guns?

Would you want teachers in your schools carrying guns? It's one of the most controversial issues in the entire country. In Ohio, around 40 school districts now allow teachers with concealed carry licenses to carry their weapons in class. In upstate Ohio there is top level, extraordinary teacher training. The teachers and administrators train side by side with local law enforcement and paramedics at John Benner's Tactical Defense Institute. They're training for a nightmare, when classrooms and hallways become killing fields.

Parents in a district asked that their staff be armed

In upstate Ohio: Parents in a district asked that their staff be armed. The board OK'd the training and the carrying of weapons on

campus by trained staff. Recent school shootings prompted them to ask not to identify the school district.

The superintendent acts as the shooter, he explained his reasoning on the controversial issue, "When does help

come? Every 30 seconds 2 people die. That's not acceptable. I don't know when the 911 call gets made. I

don't know when law enforcement arrives. It's not that they don't want to help but when do they help and I want to

keep my kids safe."

Hunter RooseveltJune 23, 2015

Oct. 1, 1997Luke Woodham fatally stabbed his mother at home before

opening fire at his high school, killing two students and injuring seven others. The attack was stopped when

Assistant Principal Joel Myrick retrieved his .45 caliber handgun from his truck and confronted Woodham,

detaining him until authorities could arrive.Myrick’s action stopped Woodham from going across the

street to the middle school as he had planned.

1. Pearl High School

2. Parker Middle School

April 24, 1998A 14-year-old student showed up to his middle school dance carrying a .25-caliber pistol. He

opened fire inside the dance, killing one teacher and wounding another as well as two students. The rampage ended when James Strand, owner of the banquet hall the dance was happening in, grabbed his personal shotgun and confronted the 14-year-old killer. Strand held the teen at gunpoint for 11

minutes before finally getting him to drop the weapon and lie on the ground and searching him

for additional weapons.

3. Appalachian School of Law

Jan. 16, 2002A 43-year-old former student armed with a .380

handgun killed Dean Anthony Sutin and Professor Thomas Blackwell with point blank shots and went on to kill fellow student Angela Dales as well as wounding three others before being confronted at gunpoint bylaw students Tracy Bridges, a county sheriff’s deputy, and

Mikael Gross, a police officer, after retrieving their personal handguns from their vehicles. The gunman

was then apprehended by other students.Gross and Bridges lost valuable response time

accessing their handguns because of the law school’s standing as a gun-free zone.

4. New Life Church

Dec. 9, 20072 parishioners were killed and 3 wounded when a gunman toting a

Bushmaster AR-15 opened fire at New Hope Church. Hearing the rifle fire, Jeanne Assam grabbed her personal concealed carry firearm and confronted

the gunman from a distance of 20 yards. According to 5280 Magazine:She fires five quick shots. Murray falls backward. Assam moves to the middle of the corridor and rushes forward. She’s a few dozen feet from Murray now, exposed in the middle of the hallway. “Drop your weapon, or I will kill you!” she yells. Murray sits up to face her. He’s still holding the rifle. Boom-boom-boom. Bullets rip past her and pepper a wall. While Murray shoots, Assam

fires three times.Through the haze of gun smoke, Assam sees the man struggling on the floor. He props his head against a wall. Her weapon is up, trained on the man. She

sees his hands moving near his shoulder. He’s trying to pull the pin on a grenade. He’s going to kill everyone around here, Assam thinks. She

instinctively steps back and fires two more shots.

5. New York Mills AT&T Store

May 27, 2010A 79-year-old man entered an AT&T store in New

York Mills, New York carrying a .357 magnum revolver in his hand and a list of employees he planned to kill in his pocket. Hearing the hand cannon go off, Donald J. Moore drew his own

personal weapon and killed the gunman before he could complete his plan. One employee was wounded

in the shooting.

6. Sullivan Central High School

August 30, 2010When a 62-year-old man armed with two handguns forced his way into Sullivan Central High School in Tennessee, he was immediately engaged by School Resource Officer Carolyn Gudger. Gudger put her

body between the gunman and a student and started what would turn out to be a more than 10 minute gun-

to-gun encounter. Gudger used the time to slowly move the man to a less crowded part of the school.

When other officers arrived on the scene, a brief gun battle erupted ending with the gunman mortally

wounded.

7. Freewill Baptist Church

March 25, 2012Aaron Guyton was inside the recreation building of

his grandfather’s church when he saw Jessie Gates, a member of the congregation, pulling a shotgun from

his vehicle. Guyton leapt into action, locking the doors to the church where services were going on.

Gates kicked in the door and pointed the shotgun at Rev. Henry Guyton and several parishioners.

Drawing his concealed handgun, the younger Guyton held Gates at gunpoint while two members of the church took him to the ground. Rev. Guyton then

took the shotgun from his hand.

8. Clackamas Town Center Mall

Dec. 11, 2012Two people were killed and a third was seriously

wounded at Clackamas Town Center near Portland, Oregon when a rifle-toting gunman

opened fire in in the busy food court. Nick Meli, a shopper in the mall, drew a personally owned

firearm on the gunman, who immediately retreated to a service corridor and killed himself. Meli did not fire his weapon for fear of striking

bystanders yet authorities say his actions caused the gunman to cease his attack and end his own

life.

9. Mystic Strip Club

January 11, 2014After being refused entry to the strip club for belligerent

behavior and racist comments earlier in the night, Thomas Elliott Hjelmeland returned carrying a handgun and

wearing a Halloween mask. As soon as he entered the club, Hjelmeland opened fire, striking bouncer Brian Rizzo, a patron, and a waitress. Another bouncer, Jonathan Baer

drew his concealed handgun and shot Hjelmeland, killing him.

Following the attack Baer posted to Facebook: “I did what I felt was right to stop the shooter…I carry every day, and will

continue to, and will so with the hope that I will NEVER have to pull it out again.”

10. Austin, Texas Construction Site

April 30, 2014An irate former employee came to a construction site and opened fire on his co-workers. The site’s foreman, a Concealed Handgun License holder,

drew his firearm and opened fire. Both men were wounded in the exchange of gunfire but the

foreman’s actions ended the attack and no one else was wounded.

11. Cache Valley Hospital

May 16, 2014Armed with two handguns, a man entered the

Cache Valley Hospital emergency room and began making demands. After demanding to see a doctor, he racked the slide on one of his handguns and told hospital employees “someone is going to die today”. While a security guard tried to keep the gunman’s

focus on him, two corrections officers who happened to be at the hospital on an unrelated

matter engaged from another direction. The gunman was shot three times and no other people

were harmed.

12. Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital

July 25, 2014A patient at a psychiatric clinic killed his case

worker at point blank range and then turned his gun on his doctor, Lee Silverman, striking him several

times. Before the gunman could leave the office and continue his rampage, Dr. Silverman drew his own concealed handgun and pumped three rounds into the gunman’s torso, mortally wounding him. Police and hospital staff hail Dr. Silverman as a hero and

credit him with saving dozens of lives.

Killing the Active ShooterGabriel Suarez

So What Solutions Can We look At?

With the prolific spread of the concealed carry culture, there is a trend for the good guy to be o

scene.

So this is my advice to the armed CCW that may happen to be on scene, and decides to engage the

bad guys.

1.If you are there with your family, or other

loved ones, see to their safety first.

It may sound harsh and selfish, but I don't think you intend to trade the life of your child for that of a stranger. It is not cowardly to run away with your family to keep them alive and safe.

2.If your family is safe, or you are alone, you

can certainly engage.

But like the gunfight philosopher Dirty Harry Callahan once said, “A man's got to know his limitations”. The prescence of that new Glock or Kel-Tec, or whatever means nothing without skill and will.

3.Engaging in the context of the active

shooter means simply bringing your gun to bear and killing.

This is not the time for challenges, commands, or any sort of dialog. They are condemned by their actions. If you have not come to terms with doing that vert thing...pointing in on the back of the bad guy's head and glowing his eyes right through the front of his skull without uttering a word, then simply don't engage.

4.One thing I recall from the old days is that

there is always a back-up.

In SWAT, we would never enter a room alone. When going intently into harm 's way we always sought to bring another with us. There is safety in numbers

5.Identify the second man by their actions.

What would most people do when there is a mad man shooting int the crowd? They tend to run away from the danger. Those that freeze in terror tend to be fixated on the gunman with wide eyes and open mouths.

A layoff man will not be doing that but rather be focused on the actions of everyone else...yours specially if you are too overt in your draw and announcing of intentions.

6.This is not the shooting range where you

stand tall and proud in your weaver/isosceles shooting position.

This is not defensive shooting, or reactive shooting. This is an ambush that you are pulling off. Use cover. Hide and protect yourself...then shoot them in the back from cover.

7.I will bet that J-Frame or that .32 is a

dream to carry.

I will bet you even forget its there as you move through your day. But when you find yourself in one of these events, you will yearn for “heavy and hard to carry” Glock 19 and spare magazines.

Every...day you are serious about protecting your world, dress for battle as if today was the day you will face the spawn of evil intent on the death of innocents. If you do not carry the correct tools, all the good intentions will amount to nothing.

8.Although it has not become very common yet it has in fact been a factor in some of

these evdents.

Understand the dynamic that a mortally wounded active shooter can still easily detonate a self-improvised-explosive-device before expiring, there by killing anyone your actions may have saved.

My counter terrorist friends around the world make it a practice to close on the downed bad guy and placing an additional three to five rounds into the head to nullify any possibility of activating an explosive device. I doubt anyone would have the gall to question it.

9.Stopping the active shooter is about

killing, and killing is simple.

Ask a killer what works best. He will say the simple way works best. Why do non-killers want to complicate this with warnings and fear of liability and all manner of non-issues??

The active shooter has already given you license to do anything you wish based on his own initiative. Draw the gun, point it, and shoot them to the ground.
