What is a part of speech?
Each part of speech tells how the word is used.
It does not tell what the word is.
A noun is a word used to name a person,
animal, place, or thing.

Here "books" is a verb. Bob is the subject.
A verb describes something about the
subject of the sentence. It express actions, events, or
states of being.

A preposition links nouns, pronouns, and

A pronoun can replace a noun or another

object of the preposition.
Here, a preposition locates the noun
"book" in space or in time.
The book is on the table. The book is beneath the table. The book is leaning against the table. The book is beside the table.
