AUDIENCE FEEDBACKAfter the production of our products both the final music video, CD covers and advert we needed audience feedback to see how successful our project has been. We arranged a focus group of ten{10} young people their age group was from 16-25. This was selected wisely so as to match our target audience. We asked them a variety of questions as seen below:

As the pie chart shows the majority of the young people in the focus group liked the video. They said it was beautifully shot and edited and they were some nice camera movements that added momentum to the whole product.

The ones that didn’t like it said the artist didn’t give100% while performing something we picked on ourselves. The other commented on the shaky camera movements we explained that they were intentional at certain point of the video they rather didn’t buy our argument.

Do you like/dislike the video & why

PIE CHART

YESNOALRIGHT

There is an interesting statistic that said the video was alright. This came up as some people were undecided about the video being good or not.

The majority of the focus group said the video wasn’t representative of the hip-hop genre. When asked why they said the lack of a lot of beautiful ladies in the video was one of the reasons.

Secondly was the lack of materialism like flashy cars shiny chains(bling bling) and top brand clothes. This however certified us that we had challenged some of the conventions of music videos since we took out the above intentionally.

Do you think the video is representative of the hip-hop genre and why?

NOYES

YESNO

The majority of the young people in the focus group said they understood the message that was being portrayed in the music video.

The minority that didn’t understand the video when asked said the narrative was confusing to them. It seemed like the artist was just walking around on different streets. I thought it was a fair point because the climax to the narrative wasn’t clearly distinguished.

Do you understand the message conveyed in the video?

Page 6: What have you learnt from your audience feedback

The majority of the focus group said they would watch the video again. This is because they felt it is an interesting video that is well paced. It holds attention so they wouldn’t mind watching it again. Plus the song was really good one you could listen to over and over again.

They mentioned channels like MTV BASE, AKA, MTV DANCE & SMASH HITS as channels that could air our video. This was important because these channels are known for playing hip-hop music. This showed that our audience can relate to the video and make links of a hip-hop nature to it.

There was mixed feedback for the CD covers the group said they were alright not that great but fair enough. They picked up on the background of the front picture on the CD cover. It showed more of a countryside than a street culture that was portrayed in the video.

Eight out of the ten people in the focus group liked the advert. They thought it was well done. They liked the fact that I kept the red theme to match the artist’s jumper. When asked if it would persuade them to buy the album 7/10 said itwould.

CONCLUSION

Through the process of getting feedback from the focus group which represented our audience I realised a few things.1. Audiences are used to certain forms and conventions of

music videos, if they are changed or not used at all then your product not good enough.
