We need to check the things we ask for in prayer

Over the weekend I had my good friend and sister Funlola Craig come to speak at our Church, The Bridge

Network and in addition to the things she shared and inspired us with,

one thing stuck in my mind.


We need to check the things we ask for in prayer

Many times what we ask for are not

solutions but aid, support

and sometimes even a crutch.


My Experiences with this!

As a Pastor I get my own load of request for help and assistance and many

times especially when someone believes they

needs funds to execute a supply

project.


My Experiences with this!

I do my best to ask them to consider other options

as well. Sometimes just to inspire them I ask them to list all their options and then suggest, you can steal the

funds or the goods you need


( I know you what you are thinking, just wait)

you can ask for funds, from friends and family,

loan from a bank the runs you need or

simply partner with someone who has the

goods and share the profit etc etc


From here on you eliminate what is possible and

scriptural Arthur Conan Doyle, Sr. quotes (Scottish writer, creator of the detective Sherlock Holmes,

1859-1930) says “Once you eliminate the

impossible, whatever remains, no matter how

improbable, must be the truth.”


The bottom line is many times we miss the bottom

line

Which is in this case is I need to fulfill this project and make a profit not to

loan money. It's to get the job done, this translates many times into our lives, marriages

business and more


Scripture has many examples to consider:

A Lame Man HealedActs 3:1-10 (NKJV)

1 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the

ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom

they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;




3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter

said, “Look at us.” 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to

receive something from them.




6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you:In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet

and ankle bones received strength.




9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10

Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement

at what had happened to him.



A Man Healed at the Pool of Bethesda

John 5:1-15 (NKJV)

1 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is

called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.




John 5:1-15 (NKJV)

4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity

thirty- eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to

him, “ Do you want to be made well?”

7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the

water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

8 Jesus said to him, “ Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.

10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful

for you to carry your bed.” 11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘ Take up your bed and walk. ’” 12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to

you, ‘ Take up your bed and walk’?”

13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude

being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “ See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” 15 The man departed and told the Jews that it

was Jesus who had made him well.


The Other Side of ScriptureWoman with the issue of

BloodMark 5:25-34 (NKJV)

Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many

physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she

heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment.




28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” 29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was

healed of the affliction




30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “ Who touched My clothes?” 31

But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘

Who touched Me? ’”




32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and

trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole

truth. 34 And He said to her, “ Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of

your affliction.”


The Other Side of ScriptureJesus Heals Blind

BartimaeusMark 10:46-52 (NKJV)

46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the

road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”




48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called.

Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He

is calling you.”



Bartimaeus

Mark 10:46-52 (NKJV)

50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. 51 So Jesus answered

and said to him, “ What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind

man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”




52 Then Jesus said to him, “ Go your way; your faith

has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.


By Faith We UnderstandHebrews 11:1-3 (NKJV)

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not

seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.


By Faith We Understand

Hebrews 11:1-3 (NKJV)

3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
