What were your take-aways from this week’s reading?

My Take-Aways: Part I

Creativity resume is like the name-tag exercise. It was designed to demonstrate: • The opportunity for creative problem solving is

everywhere.• It starts with looking at a common thing we take for

granted and reimagining it from the ground up.• It starts with asking questions: “what is this for””

“what else could it be for?” “What are all the ways I can re-think/re-imagine it.”

My Take-Aways: Part II

“The biggest failures of our lives are not failures of execution but failures of imagination” (Tina Seelig)

“We are all inventors of the future” (Allan Kay)

My Take-Aways: Part III

The frontal lobe shuts down during creative moments – when we are in “the flow” – so that we aren’t so judgmental – and self conscious.

Creativity is enhanced via:• Observation• Connection/combination• Challenging assumptions• Reframing problems

Page 8: What has resonated with you so far?. Introductions Creative problem solving preferences Brainstorm deep-dive Basics: 1/30; 2/6; 2/20 Defining the challenge.

• Why might we want to spend time reframing a challenge?

• How do know if we are solving the proper challenge?

• What is a process for reframing a challenge.

LEARNING AGENDA

Page 9: What has resonated with you so far?. Introductions Creative problem solving preferences Brainstorm deep-dive Basics: 1/30; 2/6; 2/20 Defining the challenge.

“If I had an hour to solve a problem, and my life depended on it, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than 5 minutes.”

How do we determine the proper question?

1. Start with a wishI wish….It would be great if….

2. Gather dataWho…what…when….where….why….how….etc.

3. Restate the problem in as many ways as possible. How toHow mightWhat are all the ways to….
