This was re-afrmed by the US Supreme Court in 2013. The American Medical Association, National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society have rejected smoked marijuana as medicine. There are cannabis-based medications already approved by the FDA and currently prescribed for use under doctor supervision. These products are developed from extracts of specic components of marijuana similar to how opioids are extracts from opium.
