What changes did you make while filming and why?

We changed a variety of thing when we compare our original storyboard to the opening of out film. One of the main changes that we made was that we changed the idea of having a main character in our film opening. When we were fliming our film opening, we decided that it looked better having shots that helped to set the scene more and therefore we mainly focused on introducing the house.

Another major change that we made was that we originally wanted to have the main character trapped inside the house and then the camera falling to the floor so the audience are unaware of what is going on and therefore wanted to watch the rest of the film. However as we decided to focus on introducing the house and not having characters we left this out of our film opening.

We also wanted to originally have the presence of the ghost in our film opening; however we decided we wanted to keep the ghosts identity secret until later on in the film, therefore keeping the audience wandering what may be lurking in the house and what has previously happened.

Another idea that we had was that we wanted to film inside the house, however as we did not have access to inside the house we were filming at, we had to focus on the outside of the house and developing the setting from this.

Commentary about the decisions and changes made in the filming and editing processWhen looking at the changes that we made in our film opening, it is clear to see that we have made significant changes when compared to our original planning. We decided it would be more effective to the audience if we did not have characters within our opening, this is because we felt that it is a lot more effective in creating atmosphere if we introduce different parts of the house (the house being the main focus of our opening) We originally decided that we wanted it to filmed using a handheld camera so it seemed more realistic and personal. However when experimenting with this camera and a camera which was considerably better quality, we decided that the audience would benefit from a more professional camera as the shots were more aesthetically pleasing. Some of the changes that we made in the editing process were that we adjusted the brightness and contrast in many of our shots which significantly improved the look of these shots. As well as this we also stabilized some of our footage as certain shots had a shaky effect to them, although we did use shaky effect shots as they created a spooky effect, we felt that this didnt work and wasnt necessary for every shot within our film opening.
