Friday, October 6, 2:00-3:30pm Georges Seurat (1859-1891) A Parisian who knew Normandy, Seurat created pictures based on the latest scientific vision research of his time, including Pointilism, a technique of placing daubs of paint close together. Friday, October 13, 2:00-3:30pm Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) Pastor and painter, Dutchman Vincent van Gogh produced more than 2,000 works of art in his last decade, many full of emo-tion. Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo that, as he had no children, he viewed his paintings as his progeny. Friday, October 20, 2:00-3:30pm Paul Gauguin (1848-1908) Moving from Peru to Paris to Tahiti, Gauguin mastered sculpture, pottery, and painting in a variety of styles. Friday, October 27, 2:00-3:30pm Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) A native of Provence, Cezanne began as an Impressionist painter who later pur-sued his own inexpressible artistic goals, which included revealing an underlying geometry in his subject matter.

Live Well, Age Smart is an ongoing series that provides creative learning opportuni-ties to the Parsippany area community. Utilizing collegiate level speakers, the series seeks to:

Serve as a forum for intellectual stimulation and change.

Enhance awareness and involvement with life.

Provide opportunities for socializing in friendly, comfortable surroundings.

The Live Well, Age Smart series is

scheduled for four consecutive Friday

afternoons.

Images of Impressionist art from various settings and their influences will be examined at each lecture.

Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Parsippany Library.

Dr. Michael Norris, former Museum Educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art has given art history lectures for over 20 years. He received a PhD in Art History and a Masters of Arts degree in Classics from the University of California. Dr. Norris also served as the Visiting Specialist in Museum Education and Audience Engagement at the Zimmerli Museum of Art, and his Armchair Art Tours have been well received in numerous venues.
