Out Of Office

Dear WorldVentures Family,

Welcome to our third “Out of Office” message! As part of the newly revamped Voyager, this is the column where you’ll hear a few words every month from the executive team… straight from the horse’s mouth.

Recently I received an email from Deborah Carmody, one of our incredible DreamTrip hosts and definitely a crowd favorite. She was writing about a recently completed DreamTrip to Trondheim, Norway.

Along with her message, she sent a huge group shot of everyone in party hats and Viking helmets, with balloons and “You Should Be Here!” banners scattered throughout. The event was not only a DreamTrip and a Regional Training Event, but also the one-year anniversary of Norway’s opening!

Every week I receive emails just like this from our WorldVentures Representatives sharing their adventures, so I laughed at some of the great pictures in the email and was about to file it away when I realized it was symbolic of so much that’s happening at WorldVentures right now.

It was barely a year ago that we were just opening in Norway. And it was only a year and a half before that when we were only open in the United States! In just two and a half years we’ve expanded our operations into 20 countries—and that’s not unlike many of your businesses.

For a great deal of you, you weren’t here two and a half years ago, and neither was anyone on your team. But at some point, a friend, a family member, a co-worker or maybe just a casual acquaintance thought you should take a look at WorldVentures, and from there, your life took a turn.

In August of 1987, I went to a presentation at a hotel one evening, and like you, I was hooked. I saw a way to leverage my time and energy with a business model that I wanted to spend the rest of my career with. Two years later, I met Dan Stammen, and my career really took off.

So in 2008, when things came together for me to work with Dan again, I jumped at the opportunity. And now I feel blessed to spend my time investing in a company that is a proven commodity. We’ve proven it works. People enroll customers. They make money. They take DreamTrips. And now there’s not a week that goes by that I don’t receive pictures like the ones from Norway of our people traveling around the globe with friends they made through WorldVentures, friends they didn’t know just a few years ago.

But here’s the exciting thing: We’re just getting warmed up. With recent announcements like the DreamPrice Promise and the DreamTrips U pilot program and a whole host of things that are waiting in the wings or on the drawing board, the next few months are going to be a wild ride for all of us!

I want to thank you for being here, for being a part of WorldVentures’ international family. And I want to thank you for subscribing to the Premium Service Program, for being a leader and investing in your business. We have a great issue of Voyager for you, and I think you’re going to love it!

And whether you’ve taken a handful of DreamTrips and have a growing team already, or you have a team of one and haven’t booked your first trip yet, just look at this picture from Norway and remember: A lot can happen in a year.

check-inyour first stop for tips, tricks and trips

the SMarT travelerYou finally did it. You booked your first international DreamTrip! But, before you head out the door, we’re here to make sure you have everything you need to make this a fabulous and memorable trip. Here are a few pointers to get you on your way to an enjoyable and fulfilling experience whenever you travel abroad.

travel in comfort. When traveling internationally, you know you’re in for a long flight. One way to ensure you arrive at your destination feeling refreshed and ready to explore is to bring along a supportive neck pillow. Nothing’s worse than waking up with your head slammed into the seat in front of you, or making quick friends by waking up with your head on a neighbor’s shoulder.

plan ahead. Since you’ll have hours on end to pass in the air, it’s a great time to finally cross some of those must-read books off your list. With so many e-reader options available (such as the Kindle, Nook and iPad), lugging around four or five books while you travel is no longer required. Just do a little research, download a few great reads and enjoy the relaxing down time—while you’re up in the air.

respect the culture. When visiting a foreign land, keep in mind that you’re a visitor and respecting the culture is of utmost importance. There are some gestures that may be common to you, but might be viewed as offensive. Did you know in some cultures showing the palm of your hand when waving is considered disrespectful? Read before you go, and you’ll have a more enriching and stress-free trip.

Know before you go. Shopping can become a daily part of your itinerary when traveling to faraway places. You may tend to fall in love with everything you see, but there are some downsides to buying one of everything, and it’s not just luggage space. Check out your home country’s customs, rules and regulations before you leave—you’ll be glad you did. Leaving behind that special present you picked up for a loved one could just spoil an otherwise perfectly grand vacation.

download-worthy apps

Beach weather if you’re taking a trip to the beach soon, chances are your destination’s weather has been top-of-mind lately. With Beach Weather on your phone, you gain instant access to forecasts, including air and sea temperatures, high and low tides, as well as sunrise and sunset times.

groupme looking for a quick way to send mass text messages, share photos with your entire family or start an instant conference call? With groupme, you can create groups on your phone of family members, business partners or friends, label them for quick and easy reference, and send each member group-specific updates. Send out a mass message for a team broadcast, conference call or start up a chat. When it comes to getting the word out in an instant, groupme does it all—with one text.

a special thank you to WorldVentures rep thomas malone, arizona, USa, for this issue’s “download-Worthy apps.” if you have a “download-Worthy app” you would like to share, please email [email protected].

Originally designed for vehicle manufacturing companies to quickly track parts, QR codes have now become a way to provide instant information about an infinite number of products, from discounts at restaurants, to accessing video tutorials or getting information about local and international events.

To access the information in a QR code, you’ll need to download an application on your smartphone that allows you to read the information embedded in the block of data. Run the app, snap a quick pic, and you’ll be instantly linked to online content.

Training events are designed to help you identify, aspire to, and take steps toward fulfilling your own unique potential. WorldVentures knows that increasing your knowledge and improving your skills are vital to the continued growth of the company. That’s why we’re filling up our events calendar with exciting, liberating and motivational learning opportunities around the world.

Director Colette Bowers, from South Africa, emphasizes the importance of training events for building a successful business. “While the DreamTrips are awesome, and the money is—and can be—great, depending on how much effort you put into it, for me, the training really was the turning point,” she says. “If you want to be successful in WorldVentures, you must attend trainings.”

A regular at training events, she says it was a simple task assigned to recruits at the 2011 Millionaire Boot Camp in Athens that ignited her success. When the recruits were asked to write down the next goal they wanted to achieve in WorldVentures, Colette wrote “Director by the View.” She reached her goal a full two weeks early.

Colette acknowledges the significance of training events on her success: “Attending each and every training; meeting other like-minded, positive individuals; following the system; and helping team members do the same have been pivotal to building my business. The training has completely changed my life. Not only do the trainers teach you about WorldVentures, but they also teach you personal-development skills, like the importance of a positive attitude, leadership, communication, goal-setting and others—skills you need to be successful in life.”

WorldVentures’ training events aim to empower Reps. Yes, you learn the business basics, but, ultimately, we want to help you clarify your dream, overcome your challenges, and achieve the life you want. Whether it’s learning business-growth strategies at a Regional Training Event or taking a profound look at your personal life at Journey, every training opportunity you attend is one step toward fulfilling your potential.

TRAININGCHAMPIONS

I love the word warrior. It’s the word you use to describe someone who has what it takes to win, despite whatever odds they may be pitted against.

Not that long ago, I went to a gym in Las Vegas where my good friend and WorldVentures Representative Gabe Shirey practices mixed martial arts (MMA), a popular sport around the world that encompasses boxing, karate, Brazilian jujitsu, wrestling, judo and other full-combat

sports. Gabe introduced me to his instructor, a man he simply called “Master Nick.”

Master Nick is in the Muay Thai Hall of Fame in Thailand, an honor only about 50 other people have ever received. Chuck Liddell (one of the most revered MMA fighters) called him “the baddest man in Las Vegas.” Master Nick is a warrior.

If you met him, you’d probably think Master Nick is just an average guy. He’s in his 50s and looks rather unimposing, but once he starts to do his thing, it becomes clear what Chuck Liddell is talking about.

Nick doesn’t fight anymore; instead, he trains young men with the ability to excel. One of those young men is Steve “The Robot” Cantwell. When I listen

to Steve talk about Master Nick and how much he looks up to

him, it reminds me of how the

Green Bay Packers reminisce about coach Vince Lombardi and the Los Angeles Lakers describe coach Phil Jackson.

These players had massive respect for their coaches (and mentors) because they were tough. They held

their players accountable for reaching goals. They expected them to strive for excellence, and to never accept

less. They encouraged their players to achieve the greatness they were capable of.

Legendary Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry said, “Leadership is getting grown men to do what they don’t want to do, so grown men achieve what they want to achieve.”

Now, think about it, what kind of coach are you? Do you tell people when they aren’t putting in the effort you know it takes to win? Or are you the kind of coach who doesn’t say anything your players don’t want to hear because you’re afraid that if you do, they’ll quit?

Phil Jackson created champions. Vince Lombardi created champions. And now Master Nick creates champions. The question is: Are you creating champions? Read Coach Landry’s quote again and take his advice to heart. What steps will you take today to create a champion on your team? Until next time!

Legendary coaches encourage their players to achieve greatness.

2012’s just around the corner, and Worldventures is ready to kick it off with a little MoMenTuM! you’ll leave ready to tackle 2012 and make it your most successful—and rewarding—12 months yet!

One could argue, many immersed in the “daily grind” are focused on the microcosms of work and family. Those

familiar with traveling a mile a minute can relate. What’s more, there is a tendency to equate success with quality of life—better home, better cars, better schools, better life, right? Maybe. But also worth mentioning is that many successful people actively pursue ventures to help others in need. They recognize there are a deluge of global communities whose very existence is based on subsistence, and that the majority of people in the world live in conditions of extreme poverty. Is this counterintuitive to success?

On the contrary, it is integral to its very meaning. And it should be said, that if you’re in the position to give back, and many of us are, opportunities abound.

Enter the Manifest Foundation. Known for its “voluntourism”—service trips that help provide children and families worldwide with better living conditions, education and schools—the Manifest Foundation has been shifting paradigms of success since 2010. And its latest service trip to Nicaragua is no exception.

Imagine being fully immersed in a culture where poverty is not an intermittent presence, but an all-pervading reality. That’s the experience 13 Manifest Foundation volunteers had on a nine-day, eight-night trip to Nicaragua’s La Paz and La Primavera. Collaborating with Compas de Nicaragua, a nonprofit organization promoting cultural exchange and community development, Manifest volunteers supported the efforts of two programs: Women in Action (WIA) and the Brothers and Sisters Cooperative. There, they helped construct low-tech methane gas cooking systems, which vastly reduce respiratory illness and early death caused by smoke inhalation, and created products with WIA that will be sold to fund health and education projects.

“The biggest accomplishment of this program is in bringing people together, creating friendships

and understanding,” says Compas de Nicaragua Director Michael Boudreau. “The Manifest Foundation brought open minds and hearts and a ton of energy. One of the volunteers also raised $1,000 to contribute to our programs.”

That volunteer’s name is Sue-Z Schwab. She also organized a shoe drive, collecting 100 pounds of shoes, which she personally delivered to the WIA program in Nicaragua. What makes a volunteer put in so much extra effort? Chalk it up to experience. Sue-Z’s life has not been easy.

“There were so many little moments that were priceless.” —sue-Z schwab, volunteer

In and out of foster homes for years, she was witness to disparities of care through much of her childhood and adolescence. As a consequence, she leveraged her experience and gave back to the foster-child community.

“I wanted to pay it forward, so I became a foster parent for troubled teens for six years,” Sue-Z explains. She also opened her heart and home and adopted a foster child with special needs.

When asked about her trip to Nicaragua, Sue-Z offers a rich description of the culture, the struggles and the daily compromise of people

who live there. She relates building fencing for biogas systems, harvesting and decorating gourds to sell, and preparing food and dancing with WIA members. She also toured medical facilities, visited schools and a smoldering active volcano, and witnessed how giving back transcends language barriers while living with Spanish-speaking host families. For Sue-Z, the experience of total immersion in Nicaragua was unlike any other.

“There were so many little moments that were priceless,” she says. “And the kids were always smiling.” Sue-Z plans to sponsor a Nicaraguan child’s education in the near future. “In Nicaragua, education is a privilege, not a right. Families have to buy books, uniforms and supplies, which many cannot afford. The majority of children are not in school.”

The resounding efforts of volunteers like Sue-Z have put the “voluntour” partnership between the Manifest Foundation and Compas de Nicaragua on the map. People who are willing to live beyond themselves blaze trails for others to follow. Just ask Michael, who took a trip with an anthropology class in college that, he says, changed his life.

“I ‘fell’ into Nicaragua,” the New Hampshire native says. “That trip opened my eyes to how the majority of people around the world live. I learned that Nicaraguans have a lot to teach me about what really matters in life. They inspire

me to keep going. Whenever I am feeling down, they give me the energy and inspiration to pick myself up and do more. After all, if they can be happy and full of hope, and continue to work together to improve their lives, all while living in conditions of poverty, why can’t I?”

Michael, who left the United States and made Nicaragua his home 20 years ago, says his definition of what matters begins with the desire to understand and help people. To him, Sue-Z and many of the countless Manifest Foundation volunteers who will give their time on future trips, success is where the heart is. These volunteers know that, when compared with the rest of the planet, most of us are already successful—financially, that is. And yet they discovered a type of success that goes beyond economics and lies amidst the Nicaraguans they met.

If you haven’t had a voluntourism experience yet, get ready for a paradigm shift. And make the most of it, because you are worth the effort. You’ll discover dimensions of your heart and a quality of life you won’t want to miss. This is your opportunity to change your perspective and your life by making a difference in the lives of others.

FIGHTINGFOR?

seasOn pass

Iconsider myself to be pretty lucky. I grew up in a small Wisconsin town, where most children are taught, “Go to school and get good grades, but,

more than likely, you’ll never end up moving away.” I was raised a little differently, though.

To paint a picture for you, my mother was a stay-at-home mom, and my brother, sister and I were her No. 1 priority. She wanted us to know about the world around us, so we grew up exploring. My dad coached all of our sports teams, and he would never let us win a game of “HORSE” or “Monopoly,” because he wanted us to learn how to lose gracefully and win humbly. Failure only came when we either quit or gave up. Fast-forward to 2008. There were things in my life that I desperately needed to overcome. I was only 23, but I had health issues preventing me from doing my job, and just as I was close to being let go, I learned my husband and I were expecting our first child.

Enter WorldVentures.

When I got started, I plugged in to training right away. I learned that I needed to master the Four-Step Invite, so I did. I learned about travel parties, so I held them. I learned all the “what-to-do’s” and all the “what-not-to-do’s,” and I followed them to the letter. But, no matter how well I knew the strategies, techniques and words to say, I still had moments where I questioned myself and what I was doing. Those moments were usually followed by 10 rejections in a row

or someone telling me I was crazy, or even personal issues, like ending up in the hospital because I was sick or a friend was dying.

I realized that knowing all of the how-to’s in the world would only get me so far. I had to figure out right then and there what it was I was fighting for. Like I learned when I was younger, failure would only come if I quit.

Energy and excitement fade, so I needed to put the weight of my passion behind what I was doing, because when you’re passionate about something, you work your business differently. Every one of us has something we’re passionate about, and you know you’ve discovered your passion when merely talking about it moves you to tears. Your passion will light a fire in your gut and drive you. For me, it was my son. I didn’t want someone else telling me what his first words were or when he took his first steps. There was absolutely nothing on this planet that would stop me from staying home and raising him. When I figured that out, my business started to change. I put the blinders on, and I didn’t care what I ran up against. Getting out there every day and doing the things that most people aren’t willing to do are just part of the fight. They may not get you noticed, and they’re going to be tough, but expect them and figure out beforehand how you’ll handle them. Will you crumble and quit? Or will you remind yourself what you started out fighting for and fight until you win? It’s a choice we make daily. So I ask you: What are you fighting for?

your passion will light a fire in your gut and drive you.

VIEWTHE

...This year, to celebrate our first international View from the Edge and sixth View in Dallas, we asked you to show us what your view from the edge looks like in our first-ever “My View from the Edge” photography promotion.

We received more than 100 entries worldwide on Facebook and in emails, and the pictures were absolutely incredible! You sent in photos of natural wonders like the Grand Canyon, as well as manmade ones such as the Eiffel Tower. Several pictures had you skydiving, surfing and skiing, while others showed beach bums and blue-haired partiers. You even took us on your voluntours and road trips and inside a B-1 Bomber. And, of course, you sent in a ton of photos with your “You Should Be Here!” banners flying!

It was a great promotion, and we want to send a special congratulations to our two winners, who both appeared on stage with International Director of Training Marc Accetta in Amsterdam and Dallas: Israel’s Michael Cohen and Arizona’s Frances Kaplan.

or self-proclaimed farm kid Byron Schrag, cultivating

comes naturally. Only instead of crops… he’s producing

dreams. “This business is about believing you can,”

Byron says. “I’m just an average country boy, and

people can relate to me. They see me and say, ‘I can do

this if that guy can!’ ”

Whatever his strategy, it seems to be working. Within the past

six years, Byron has grown his WorldVentures team from modest

beginnings to a force to be reckoned with—more than thousands of

Representatives strong—and today, he’s an International Marketing

Director. “Consistency over time breaks down all the barriers,”

Byron says. “And networking is the great equalizer. As long as

you’re persistent, it doesn’t matter if you’re black or white, young

or old, good-looking or ugly. If you keep talking to people and

plugging them in to the training system, you’ll be successful.”

And he should know. A second-generation network marketer,

Byron’s parents started a thriving business when he was just 4

years old, so the entrepreneurial life is virtually all he’s known.

While his upbringing did make him scrappy and adventurous, it

didn’t immediately lead to success. “I was really down and out

at the time I found WorldVentures,” Byron says. “But I know that

you can’t hit it out of the park if you don’t keep stepping up to

the plate. And I wasn’t afraid to get up and swing again.”

Byron Schrag and his family say

WorldVentures has enabled them

With a story that’s not altogether unfamiliar, Byron was looking for a change when he discovered WorldVentures. “When I started, it was almost out of desperation,” he says. “I had to do something different, because if I didn’t, they were going to come get my house and my cars—and my kids wouldn’t be in private Christian schools anymore.”

However, what really sets him apart is the tenacity with which he searched for a better way, married with his undying sense of hope. “When I saw WorldVentures, I knew I could start living some of the dreams God had

put in my heart if I would just get focused,” the Kim Eaton Hero Award recipient says.

He had been struggling in vain to keep two failing businesses afloat. And the excessive overtime hours spent on those ventures were literally ripping his family apart at the seams. “At that point, I didn’t have anything to lose and everything to gain,” Byron says. “Things weren’t very good at home. Susan and I were going through marriage counseling; we had lots of challenges.”

Certainly not from lack of trying, but his advertising business and outdoor

hunting and fishing television show continued to flounder. Byron was gone all the time, pouring all he had into clinging to his deteriorating businesses. So, needless to say, his wife Susan’s response to his new endeavor with WorldVentures was understandably somewhat less than enthusiastic. “She wasn’t really very excited about me taking on something else that was going to pull me away from the family,” Byron says. “I already worked from early in the morning until late at night every day, and my new WorldVentures business was just going to add to it. But I saw where this could be different.”

Don’t Stop Believing So he went all out—nose-to-the-grindstone committed to making his dream a reality. “You just have to work harder than you ever have and show a bunch of people this opportunity,” Byron says. “But don’t have the expectation that you’re going to re-evaluate in 60 days. It’s like running a race: When you’re looking left, right and behind you, you can never win. Just take off and go.”

Byron’s amazing ability to stay hyper-focused in spite of all that was going on around him is a testament to his perseverance, motivated in large part by a tiny voice in his head that echoed from his early 20s. “Back then, I had a mentor named Pat, who was asked what he did for a living,” Byron says. “And his reply floored me. He said, ‘I just live full time.’ Pat’s network marketing business spanned the globe and was worth hundreds of millions of dollars. He made decisions based on what he wanted to do, because he had more

money coming in than he could spend. And I listened to that conversation, thinking, ‘I want to do that!’ ”

After about a year, Byron’s WorldVentures business had begun to take off, and yet it was as if something just hadn’t clicked. Looking back, it seems the missing element was a solid support system at home. Susan still was not completely on board.

“The first time we went to the View, everyone was excited, and I felt like I was the only one who wasn’t,” Susan says. “But that night was a major turning point for us, because Byron described his vision to me and really listened to my concerns. That weekend, we got on the same page and we decided to do this together.”

Then the epiphany came about two years into the business. Byron and Susan took their children on a family trip out West, doing whatever the kids wanted—with no concern for money—for an entire

month, which, in their previous life, would’ve been unheard of. “We were in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, staying in this really nice hotel, and Susan and I decided, after all we’d been doing, we needed to check the bank account,” Byron says. “She pulled it up on the Internet, and shook her head, saying, ‘There’s more money in the account than when we left.’ I thought back to my friend Pat talking about living full time. We’d been playing as hard as we could for three weeks, and we had more money than when we left—that’s a pretty cool deal!”

The trip was monumental for Susan as well, but for a slightly different reason. “We saw the fruits of our labor: He could finally take time off, put the phone down and be part of the family. That was huge for me, because before then, I was afraid he just wanted to work all the time. I didn’t really understand his plan—to work hard now so that later we wouldn’t have to.”

Since then, Byron’s business has soared onward and upward. Today, he spends a majority of his time helping others reach their potential. “WorldVentures is not just about travel; it’s about making changes personally so you can have the lasting success you want. We are where we are today based on the choices we’ve made to this point,” he says. “You can have success very easily if you’ll just do a few things that the average person isn’t doing. For instance, like I tell my son, if you want to become a better basketball player, shoot 500 baskets a day. Then,

even if you’re the worst shot right now, a year from now, you’ll be the best shot on the team. Bar none.”

To Byron, it all comes down to a person’s level of commitment. “You have to decide to work at a high-enough level until it works. Is that two or 10 hours a day, or 40 hours a week? It’s different for everyone. But every day you must do some things to advance you forward, because consistency over time is what creates success.”

Creating Dreams Few people know how true freedom really feels. But Byron Schrag is one of the fortunate. “My daughter had a volleyball game yesterday afternoon and I could be there,” Byron says. “And when my son wants to shoot hoops after school, I can do that, too. I was motivated to be free. I could see it, taste it and smell it. And I knew I could make that happen with WorldVentures.”

Although he is on the frontlines every day building a team, Byron and Susan both acknowledge her supporting role is no less significant—in fact, it is a critical component to their overall success. “There was a time when I felt that everyone else was positive about this business except me,” Susan says. “I know there are a lot of people who question if this is really going to work, and my answer to them is, yes, it works. You have to be willing to believe one more time.”

Before they found WorldVentures, their choices were limited, but today, that’s no longer the case. “I can get up in the morning when I want or just sit and drink coffee with my wife,” Byron says.

“You know, it’s the little things that matter in life more than the big things. People think it’s the new house or the fancy car; I have all those things, but they never motivated me. Freedom is being able to be at my kids’ basketball or volleyball games in the middle of the day. I have the chance to do the things that you can never get back. WorldVentures has blessed me with the little things.”

In six short years, Byron and Susan have pulled their family from the brink of disaster and transformed it into the cohesive unit it is today. And after his kids’ games, another top priority is helping to spark the dreams of others. “People get stuck in the middle of life; they’re beaten down, and they forget how to dream. And I just want them to know there’s another option,” Byron says.

Success is different for everyone, too. For Byron and Susan, the dream—to live full time—has finally become a reality. “I told someone the other day that I do two things every day: I help other people live the dreams that God put in their heart and I live the dreams that God put in my heart.”

Jodie & shane king—tn, usaWhat tips do you have for others to achieve success on their own?

Posture up! Never give up! Listen to your leaders and your coaches! Keep it simple, and always have fun! And, by all means, go to trainings (all of them)!

What’s your favorite part about having a WorldVentures business?

The people we meet. The new friends made and the old friends we’ve reconnected with.

What has been your proudest accomplishment since you joined WorldVentures?

There are so many. We always celebrate reaching even the smallest goals. Reaching them gets more and more exciting the further we go. However, our greatest accomplishment so far has been our strong team, because without that, nothing else matters.

While the DreamTrips are awesome, and the money is (and can be) great, for me, it was the training that really was the turning point. What I have learned in my short time with WorldVentures has had more of an impact on my life than everything else I’ve learned in the last 40 years.

richmond ross—tn, usaWhat attracted you to WorldVentures and the opportunity?

I had worked in the vacation business for years, so I knew how large the industry was and how much families spent vacationing each year. I was used to selling someone a travel package that cost anywhere from $15,000 to $50,000, so I was blown away by the cost. What a value!

When Rovia sets out to build a first-class travel product, it doesn’t mess around. It’s no secret; there are lots of

reasons to love Rovia’s products: great locations, dream-quality experiences, no hidden fees or funny business, and a rock-star customer service team. Of course, not everyone is a leisure traveler seeking a pampered escape. Some are looking for a thrill. These adrenaline junkies and adventure addicts live for the chance to pursue their hobbies and favorite pastimes unhindered. Enter a whole-new type of DreamTrip, focused on individual activities outside of the usual spa-and-thaw leisure travel options.

WorldVentures Representative Bob Schick has been the lead developer of this new breed of DreamTrip, and although his initial involvement has centered on Sportsman’s DreamTrips, he sees a huge opportunity for members eager to experience new adventures. “Sportsman’s DreamTrips are part of a bigger goal for Rovia DreamTrips,” he says. “We’re adding a wider variety of trips.”

Evidence of this can be seen in a sampling of recent DreamTrips that include cage-diving with great white sharks, adventure weeks in a Costa Rican rain forest, Formula 1 races, professional athletic events and more.

Many of these activities, just like hunting and fishing, are increasingly costing more than many thrill seekers can afford. That’s why trips taking you to the edge and back are becoming a regular fixture in the Rovia family of DreamTrips. They’re phenomenal opportunities for passionate DreamTrippers who crave escapes with more hot pursuit than hot-stone massage.

Hence the addition of Sports DreamTrips, a product line that targets high-profile sporting events and the thousands of fans who flock to these gatherings every year. One can only imagine the huge potential for growth as more and more people are exposed to the possibility of attending their favorite championship for the price of a DreamTrip.

The 2012 Super Bowl XLVI package exemplifies the type of trip that’s coming down the pike. It’s more than tickets to the game and reservations at a nearby hotel. Pigskin-loving DreamTrippers will find themselves caught up in five unforgettable full days of football and NFL activities, all coordinated by DreamTrips agents. With opportunities to snag autographs from hall-of-famers; tour Indianapolis’ renowned museums; participate in the NFL Experience; and watch the game from terrace-level end-zone seats, this trip has been arranged down to the yard line.

On top of all the budget-stretching gallivants that DreamTrips Members already love, Bob has also helped build DreamGear equipment and apparel. Through exclusive vendor partnerships, DreamTrippers can outfit for their favorite excursions at a fraction of the retail cost, making it even easier to pursue their outdoor passions. And, as the variety of trips grows, so will the selection of merchandise (think scuba, mountain biking, hiking, tennis, golf and more).

if you’d like to see a trip offered, visit WorldVenturesdreamtrips.com and click on the suggestions link at the top left-hand portion of the window. tell us about the places you want to go and the things you want to do. if enough people speak up, the possibilities are wide-open.

also, if you know of a vendor or outfitter who would like to get involved with the program, refer them to PartnerWithrovia.com, where they can get more information. member input plays a crucial part in the process in the product-development process, so share your ideas today! Who knows? the next dreamtrip you take really could be your personal fantasy adventure!

ready for eight days in a costa rican rain forest, kayaking through the jungle, mountain biking down a volcano and riding a zip-line past squawking parrots? When you’re ready for a break from one of the world’s most lush, verdant forests, hit the surf, or just surf—whichever you prefer. this all-inclusive trip includes everything you need for the perfect adventure!

there’s a little bit of everything in this trip: deep-sea fishing, kayaking, exquisite scuba diving, serene fairways and accommodations sure to melt away your every stress. located on the Sea of cortez, this mexican excursion is the kind of trip that puts a tan in your skin and a smile on your face without quieting the jangle in your pocket.

if you’re looking for quality bird-hunt in the kansas grasslands, then look no further. international marketing director Byron Schrag will be hosting this fabulous trip. included in the price are accommodations for four days, three nights and two full days of guided hunting with trained bird dogs. this may be your best chance this season to snag pheasant, quail, and maybe a chukar or two!

“The excitement of being able to offer people the ability to do something they love at a price they are shocked to see… that’s what fuels me,” Bob says.

This sentiment is at the core of Rovia. Whether your passion is fly-fishing in the Appalachians,

SOUTHAn Epic Adventure

africa

by tori Brown

passpOrt

november/december 2011  • 35

Along the southern tip of perhaps the world’s most diverse continent, South Africa offers more exciting

types of terrain and brilliant ecosystems than a photographer can shake a lens at. From hippos lounging in the Limpopo River to penguins waddling on the Cape and lions lying around the savannah, it’s one life-changing sight after another. Not to mention the famous Kalahari Desert with its fantastic springtime wildflowers and Kruger National Park’s unbelievable wildlife safari… and then there’s iconic Table Mountain overlooking Cape Town. The list of breathtaking sights to see in South Africa is endless.

But there’s more than just seeing around these parts—there’s a whole lot of doing. River rafting, zip-line canopy tours, golfing the most unusual 19th hole in the world, hot-air ballooning, township tours, bridge bungee jumping—we could go on and on. But first, get a glimpse into what makes this country so, well, epic.

Eclectic Cities Cape Town, the country’s oldest and most beautiful city, is magnificently nestled between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Stunning buildings, winelands, long white beaches and a rich culture make this city a must-see. Highlights include the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in the heart of Cape Town, with upscale shops, restaurants, crafts sellers and street performers around the harbor. Then visit Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners were held during the apartheid era. Make sure to dine at La Colombe at the Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate and Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek, both rated among the world’s top 50 restaurants. And, speaking of accolades, this stunning city was nominated as the world’s leading destination from World Travel Awards and named the best destination in Africa.

Johannesburg, the de facto capital of Africa, is a bustling and sprawling city spread across the small but densely populated province of Gauteng. In Johannesburg, everyone is on the move—working, jogging, cycling, dining, attending shows, viewing art exhibits and much more. If you’re a busy city person, you’ll love “Joburg,” as the locals call it. Johannesburg offers the world’s largest manmade forest, with more than 10 million trees placed in parks, gardens and along sidewalks. Interesting facts: Forty percent of the world’s human fossils have been found near the city, and the city’s zoo houses the only two polar bears in Africa.

Soweto, just south of Johannesburg, is South Africa’s largest and wealthiest township and known as the city of gold. Filled with history of the struggle against apartheid, Soweto is a cultural must-see for tourists who are looking for more than sun, sea and wildlife.

In addition to blow-your-mind animal adventures, South Africa also offers thousands of miles of coastline, breathtaking mountains and an ideal climate for outdoor activities, making it the ultimate destination for adrenaline seekers (you know who you are!). Big, wild cliffs (many undiscovered) create some of the best rock climbing in the world. Or try canyoning—known locally as “kloofing”—and rappell to the bottom of a canyon. That’ll get your blood pumping! Plus, hundreds of miles of hiking trails wind around the country, from the desert to the forest, mountains to the coast, and most have mountain bike trails.

Bloukrans Bridge in the Eastern Cape has the world’s highest commercial bungee jump, while Table Mountain in Cape Town offers the highest abseil (for rappelling). There are more than 100 paragliding or hang-gliding launch sites listed, with schools at every location to teach newcomers. And for air tours, experience helicopter rides, balloon flights, aerobatics, skydiving and microlight flights almost everywhere. Seafarers, try your hand (or feet) at some of the world’s best surfing and windsurfing, or enjoy scuba diving and whale-watching.

People and Culture To get in touch with South African culture, nothing beats actually meeting the people. Many remote cultural villages offer a glimpse into the country’s traditional cultures. Township tours are a great way to put you in touch with real South Africans and their history. The locals also produce a remarkable range of arts and crafts, both traditional and more modern, which are often for sale.

And then there’s the food and wine. An abundance of seafood and interesting wild game dishes are an experience of their own. And the wine, which is some of the finest in the world, could satisfy any oenophile. Modern art galleries, state-of-the-art museums, city jazz clubs and open-air festivals also offer a variety

of cultural experiences and entertainment. After the sun sets, there’s buzzing music, dancing and a thriving theater scene. South Africans are known for their beat-driven, feet-moving music, and it can be heard and enjoyed from the streets, cultural villages, nightclubs and even churches.

And let’s not forget the fascinating indigenous people of South Africa, and the fact that modern human beings have lived in the country for more than 100,000 years. It’s truly an archaeological treasure chest. Many scientists believe that human life started in this very area. Take a tour of humankind near Johannesburg, which is one of the richest hominid (early human) fossil sites in the world.

Few places on earth offer visitors the unique combination of spectacular safaris, award-winning vineyards, lively culture and adrenaline-boosting outdoor activities along with five-star comfort and world-class food. There’s so much to see and do, you’ll simply have to come back again and again. It’s truly a place like no other… of epic proportions.

voyager: To start, how were you initially introduced to Worldventures?Carlos Rogers: My friend invited me out to a presentation. I was just working acting jobs here and there, which, in most cases, were 12 and 14 hours a day for practically nothing.

v: What initially sold you on Worldventures?CR: Well, the travel, and just seeing the trips and the examples in the presentations. I thought, “Man, if I could get on one of these trips, then that would be really cool.” Then, when I saw that part about earning additional and residual income; well, that definitely started to catch my attention, too. I realized that if I would just dedicate myself to this for a few years, I’d have enough to cover my bills and the time to pursue

acting and do the things I want. It was all a no-brainer. But it wasn’t until a couple of years after I joined, around January 2007, that I went all in and really began to understand what I had. Today, WorldVentures is my main source of income. I don’t put in 40 hours a week, but I earn a full-time income.

v: how has your journey with Worldventures changed your life so far?CR: It’s been unbelievable! I was making $28,000 a year, and now I make more than that most months. Additionally, I’ve had the DreamCar Bonus for almost two years. I drove a Toyota Corolla, and now I drive a new BMW 5 Series. Also, I’ve been able to buy my mom a brand-new Lexus. I took her to a Lexus dealership and told her to pick out any car she wanted. This whole experience has just been unbelievable.

v: When you encounter a string of noes, like everyone does here and there, what keeps you motivated to continue going forward?CR: I have big goals and big dreams, so they’re what keep me motivated. Of course, I want a higher income, but I also want to continue helping people. And I know WorldVentures is the vehicle to get me where I want to be.

v: What advice would you give someone who’s new to the business?CR: Plug in to the system. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel; just plug in to the system, plug in to the trainings, and work more on yourself than you do on your business. Personal development is key; in fact, it’s played a big role in my own success.

v: is there anything else you’d like to share with voyager readers?CR: You’ve got to get your belief level up high enough to where you’ll be able to go out and introduce the opportunity. I think the reason people don’t share WorldVentures with others is because their belief level isn’t where it should be. One of the ways you can really work on your belief level is by attending a big event, like View from the Edge, MOMENTUM! or “UNITED! Living the Dream.”

All that glitters is gold—and then some. Just ask International Marketing Directors Jeff Bolf and Troy Brown, the newest beneficiaries of WorldVentures’ million-dollar ring incentive. This is not your father’s service bonus. This is a Super Bowl-inspired ring in white or yellow gold, embellished with diamonds, one for every $100,000 earned per annum. Jeff and Troy opted for the yellow variety and were presented with their bling, uh, rings in October during the View from the Edge in Dallas.

WorldVentures Representatives who’ve reached this milestone aren’t familiar with the phrase “business as usual.” They’re not “in touch” with failure or compromise. They’ve never heard of plateaus. Their brainstorms are legendary, their enthusiasm is off the charts, and their carbon footprint is a dollar sign followed by an exclamation point. And the good news is they’re sharing the good news: The fiscal and time freedom you earn through WorldVentures will change your life. Can you relate? International Marketing Director Matt Morris can.

“Getting presented the million-dollar ring on stage at the 2011 International Convention was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” Matt says. “When the stage lights hit the 60 sparkling diamonds on the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen, I got teary eyed. Not just because the ring was so amazing, but because of everything the ring represents: all of the hard work, the thousands of friends created along the way, the amazing leaders on my team, the personal growth, the travel, and now having complete and total time and money freedom.”

Make no mistake. This is not about greenbacks. This is about recognition. This is about exceeding expectations. This is about heart. This is about the ring.

“I wanted that ring more than I wanted the money,” says IMD David Pietsch, a recipient of the $100,000 ring who brings in $600,000 annually. “All the big boys wear the ring, and I wanted to be a big boy!”

What happens when Reps carve out a niche for themselves? The sky’s the limit. Ask anyone who’s been there. Some will highlight the journey, some the destination. But, let’s be honest… it’s both. Achievement and accomplishment are two sides of the same coin. You go all in and build a phenomenal team, and every achievement is part and parcel to your accomplishment. And that’s the bottom line. You focus on both.

“The ring incentive is relatively new for WorldVentures, but it’s become incredibly popular,” says Chief Marketing Officer Dan Stammen. “For years, we’ve offered great rewards and recognition for our Reps, including vacations, cars and homes, but the ring is the ultimate symbol of success and with good reason.”

Are you in sync with achieving your highest aspirations? There’s a good chance you may meet Director of Recognition Cris Burns one day. “Receiving the ring is quite an honor, and we are always very proud to award them to our leaders,” Cris says. “We hope they wear their rings with great pride, knowing how much we appreciate their hard work, dedication and leadership.”

Want to inspire your team? Good. Want them to hang on your every word and follow you into any situation, thick with enthusiasm? Light that fire. Tell them what’s up. Provide them with the ultimate incentive. And let them know that the catchphrase “Success is its own reward” just isn’t good enough. You want the ring? This is your sign from the universe—you can get it.

High earners who make $100,000 in a 12-month period receive a Super Bowl-style ring in white or yellow gold adorned with one diamond and black onyx in the center.

And when you earn:• $200,000 per year: 2 diamonds• $300,000 per year: 3 diamonds• $400,000 per year: 4 diamonds

You get the picture. The limit is $1 million for 10 diamonds. But Reps who get to this point don’t stop there. Why would they?

Save your sanity.

Avoid the sticky-note

addiction.

by Erin K. Casey

here on earth is that name and email address you wrote down yesterday? That woman, the one with the three children hanging off her legs, was so excited about getting information from you. Her face lit up when you told her how much she could save on DreamTrips alone with her husband.

So where is it? You remember writing it on a neon-green sticky note, or wait, was it hot pink? You promised to send her a link today. Could that be it stuck on the refrigerator? Oh… no. The name and number on that hot-pink sticky note belongs to someone you were supposed to follow up with last week…. Are they even still interested in becoming a WorldVentures Representative?

Having your own business offers amazing benefits, but being a home-based entrepreneur also comes with its own set of organization and

time-management challenges. Whether you’re just getting started with your business, or you’re tired of missing opportunities because you can’t find the right sticky note, use these simple tips to set up a home office that keeps you organized.

checkList

Let’s define the term home office loosely. You may not have an entire room dedicated to your business, and truthfully, that’s OK. You don’t need an office to be successful. All you really need is a phone, a computer and a system that works for you.

So, if you don’t have a “real” office, what other options are there?

Portable Office: Get a hanging file folder box with a lid to store pens, brochures, magazines, invitations and any other “deliverables.” You can work from your car, the kitchen table, coffee table, even your bed… and then stash everything neatly back in the box when you’re done for the day.

Mobile Office: With WorldVentures, so much of your business can be done online. A laptop or tablet computer and a mobile phone are essentials that can help you minimize clutter and maintain order. Using an online calendar, like Google Calendar or Cozi, allows you to access your daily appointments on the go. Use the sharing feature to keep your family informed of your schedule and to invite team members and prospects to meetings. You can also set up email and text reminders

(complete with contact info) so you never miss a follow-up call or important appointment.

For times when you can’t enter info into your phone right now, keep a small notebook or day planner handy. Jot information into the notebook and transfer it into your calendar or contact system later that evening.

All-in-One Office: If you really want a dedicated office space in your home but don’t have an extra room, find a nook to serve your needs. Clean out a walk-in closet and outfit it with a small table, chair and a few shelves. Or, purchase a freestanding office—a computer armoire—to house your computer and printer, as well as any brochures or magazines and other office supplies.

The key to keeping your business organized is to store everything in one place. Save your sanity by avoiding the sticky-note addiction. Your system doesn’t need to be elaborate, complicated or expensive. One notebook or planner, one computer or tablet computer, one online calendar and one phone with all your contacts and you’re set up for success from your home office… wherever that may be.

iTineraryyou’ve read the pages, now what will you do?

According to research, someone who writes down their goals is 80 percent more likely to achieve them than someone who doesn’t. Don’t believe us? Check out “Globetrotter” on page 8, where South Africa’s Colette Bowers says she wrote down her goal of reaching Director by the next event. The result? She reached it two weeks earlier than her deadline. What are your top three goals? Write them in a journal, and then go for them!

What are you fighting for? Marketing Director Sarah Olson said in “Season Pass” on page 13 she was fighting for time to spend with her son. Maybe you’re fighting to retire early. Or to spend time with your grandchildren. That’s OK—figure it out and commit to go to battle for it.

In this issue’s cover story, “Living Full Time” on page 16, IMD Byron Schrag says, “You can have success very easily if you’ll just do a few things the average person isn’t doing.” Look at your daily schedule. Look pretty routine? What are two ways you could “shake it up a bit” and go the extra mile every day. Got them? Now do them!

We like sparkly jewelry. We really do. If you like diamonds like we like diamonds, don’t miss Jeff Bolf’s and Troy Brown’s sparkling new million-dollar rings on page 38. Wouldn’t one of those look nice on your finger? There’s your newest goal!

Sticky notes are great, but you can’t run a million-dollar business on them. They end up at the bottom of bags. They like to vanish. They’re not really all that sticky. Don’t miss “Checklist” on page 44, and get tips on how you can turn a “sticky-note Bermuda Triangle” into the place where the organized WorldVentures Representative reached IMD.

Everyone needs to have an adventure now and then. But did you know you could have a mini adventure without ever hopping on an airplane? Whether it’s taking a new route to work or trying a new type of cuisine, have an adventure today! You deserve it!
