OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) is an agency of the US Department of Labor, created in 1970. Before then, no health and safety protection existed to protect workers.

YoU MUSt KnoW YoUr rIGHtS!What is OSHA? Your migratory

status doesn’t matter! OSHA investigators are only worried about safety and security in the workplace, and are not concerned with your migratory status.

Some basic rights of the worker under OSHA:

m Request information from your boss about the hazards to your safety and health.

m Receive the proper training and information.

m Request that the Area Director of OSHA investigate working conditions.

Remember! OSHA never cites workers for negligence in the workplace; it only penalizes bosses.

Communicate with your workers’ center!Communicate with your workers’ center and together we can decide how to best resolve the issue.

OSHA requires that a boss give to each of his workers a job and workplace free of dangers that could cause accidents or death.
