Welcome to the latest issue of our Prospectus, you will find information about the many and varied courses that we currently offer at the West Green Learning Centre.
Park View is pleased to be able to offer these community focused courses. Our Programme of classes has been carefully put together to try to meet the needs of local people It includes classes in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Literacy, Numeracy, Computing for Beginners, Acoustic Guitar, Art, Spanish, French, Film making, Indian Head massage and many more.
All our courses are taught by highly qualified tutors in safe, friendly well equipped classrooms. We are certain that you will find a course to suit your needs.

Course Fees Exam Fees
Concessions Course Materials
All course fees are payable in full directly to the tutor on the first day of class.
For some courses you will have to pay an examination or registration fee, this will be in addition to course fees and is non-refundable.
If you are in receipt of certain state benefits or are a senior citizen you may be entitled to a full or partial reduction in course fees.
If you think you might be entitled to pay the concessionary fee you must bring proof of benefit entitlements, proof of address and photographic identity when you come to enrol.
Documents we will accept as proof of address are a utility bill, i.e. gas, electricity, telephone bill (not mobile phone) or bank statement.
The cost of books or course materials is in addition to course fees and students are solely responsible for paying these.

We will focus on painting techniques, from those of the old masters to modern mediums. Students will develop observational skills, experiment with various mediums, prepare materials (canvas, board, varnishes, paint), and as egg tempera, oil and acrylics). The course will combine lectures and practice in painting. It is suitable for students with some experience in
drawing and beginners in painting.

COMPUTING & MULTIMEDIA
Documentary Film
Production Workshop
Interested in filmmaking? Got a good story to tell? Multi award winning filmmaker Ken Fero will help to get you on your way in this unique course aimed for local people with a passion for cinema.
You will learn the process of filmmaking from initial idea through to pre-production, shooting and editing. Over the course you will make a short documentary film that will be screened in our cinema.
This is a practically grounded course where you will be introduced to digital camera, lighting, sound and editing as well as the basic practical lessons of how to get a film made. The course is hands on with personal tuition based around the production of a film.
The film can be used as part of your show-reel to progress onto media training. You will get a DVD copy of the film produced. You will also get a Certificate of Participation from Migrant Media, the internationally renowned film company that have organised this course.

On this course you will get to find your way around a computer, create a document using Microsoft Word and have an oveview of how to use the Internet to search for information and keeping safe whilst shopping online.

COMPUTING & MULTIMEDIA
This course is ideal for people with some knowledge of using a computer and wish to upgrade their skills and for those who have little or no experience of using electronic spreadsheet. The course cover the skills needed to create a basic spreadsheet using Excel a Microsoft Office application. Participants will create a spreadsheet from scratch, generate a chart and work with simple data management tools. Full fee remission is available for those on means-tested benefits. This course is for any adult who wishes to improve or consolidate their French. It will be taught by a qualified native experienced French teacher. The aim of this course is to help you to hold a conversation in French but you also learn about the many different and exciting aspects of French culture. This course will be based on different types of conversation, listening, pronunciation and grammar. This will allow you to feel confident and at the same you will develop a range of different skills in French. By the end of the course the confidence that you will have acquired through out the classes , will help you to face any everyday situation in different French speaking countries.
