Coming into the game Saturday, one could gather that Fairview’s opponents have been less than stellar, respectively. Their opponent, this time, would be no different. The Eagles ran all over the visiting Phelps Hornets for a 61-14 victory to remain undefeated.

Everything wasn’t the same in this Fairview win because, the ‘’WOOD’’ believers were watching it all happen from the opposite of where they had sat for years. That had to be a little strange for the players, but they seemed to roll on quite well with the change.

The fans couldn’t have been complaining though. The bleachers were brand new, along with an up to date press box sitting above them. They watched the Eagles rack up 393 yards of offense to open up a new era for the Fairview football field.

The Fairview running game looked like an efficient machine for yet another performance Saturday. It seemed like every blink of an eye there would be one of the three Fairview backs score. Together, they accumulated 266 yards.

The fullback, Chris Brewer had a big chunk of it with 110 yards with 3 touchdowns. Devon Turner turned in 3 scores and Chris Littlejohn had the 2 other touchdowns, (one being a reception) from the 8 the trio cashed in.

Homecoming Parade

around tHe corner! After months of planning and board meetings the new football stadium is complete. Hundreds of workers and community members worked tirelessly until the early morning hours on Saturday to make sure Saturdays game against Phelps went off without a hitch. “I watched the first set of bleachers go up on that hill, these will be the last.” Said Fairview Superintendent Bill Musick. The stadium was completed approximately 11pm Friday night. Soon after the Westwood Volunteer Fire Department came in and hosed the new bleachers down to get all of the dirt and debris of the newly finished seats. Saturday morning came and went as everyone was waiting for game time. Around 2:30 PM music started playing thru the new stadium sound system and all of Westwood knew it was a new chapter in Fairview Football.

The running game hasn’t been the only thing that has been efficient though. The Eagles defense held the Hornets scoreless the whole first half and gave the offense plenty opportunities to reload and go at it again which contributed to the 55-0 halftime score.

With the game decided early, Fairview took the time to slow down and play no mistake football in the passing game, which has been shaky at times. Ty Lowe completed 3 of his 6 throws, including a 36 yard touchdown pass.

The Eagles would score one touchdown in the second half as Phelps got their selves on the board.

The Hornet’s Devon, Devon Smith stepped up for his team and scored for a 35 yard and 60 yard rushing touchdown respectively. Better late than never.

Fairview (4-0) will have a bye for this week, but will continue its season against a team from the neighboring county. The ‘’WOOD’’ will welcome in the (0-3) Greenup County Musketeers on 9/23.
