izen who thinks he/she is being unjustly attacked, and thus justified in at-tempting to defend self. That citizen should not be charged with resisting an officer if he had no way of knowing that his attacker is a police offi-cer. The respect and def-erence owed to a police officer can only be pro-vided to someone that is known to be such. Too many citizens have died as a result of encounters with police who though are off-duty and out of uniform, have exercised police actions with an attitude of authority de-spite being disguised as regular citizens.

Y’all Gonna Make Me Go Off, Up In Here, Up In Here!

“You unbelieving gen-eration, Jesus replies, “How long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you…?”

Mark 9:19. I have done everything for you! I’ve healed, I’ve preached, I’ve saved, I’ve loved, and I’ve taught you, and you still refuse to be-lieve much of anything I say. After all I’ve do-ne up to this point to dis-play My power, there is still a question as to just how powerful I am... “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you?” “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword, Matthew 10. You uncircumcised Phi-listines! “I know thy

works, that thou art nei-ther cold nor hot: I wish thou were cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16… Wow! Is there any doubt as to why Jesus spoke in such a manner to His disci-ples and speaks to us in this manner today…? I think not! We’re just not accustomed to think of Jesus in this light: frus-trated with us, irritat-ed, disturbed, annoyed, dissatisfied. And please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying; I’m not suggesting in any shape or form that the Lord spoke these words unduly harshly, or in an extreme or unreason-able manner. But sure-ly you’ll have to agree with me that we tend to think of the Lord’s win-some characteristics, His grace, His love, His gen-tleness - we’re not ac-customed to thinking of Jesus as being frustrated with His people, and re-buking His people. R. Kelly Packs Out San Manuel

What it do with the LUE is three time Gram-my award winner Rob-ert Sylvester Kelly, known to us as R. Kel-ly, smashed San Manuel

on Thursday, October 8! Straight outta Chi Town, known as Chicago (Illi-nois), the singer, song-writer, record producer, rapper and former; let’s not forget professional basketball player, came out to the Inland Empire

and left his mark. He showed us all why he is the King of R&B. OMG, performing all his hits from his 12 play album such as “Your Body’s Callin’”,”Bump N’ Grind”, “I Believe I Can Fly”, and many more. The house was packed with standing room only. The ladies were out of control and let’s just say that the fel-las were waiting patient-ly. LOL! I had so much fun, it took me way back. I love the fact that he wasn’t stuck up and how he engaged the crowd. He called several ladies from the audience to come on stage and chill while he performed, giv-ing them an up and close performance. Now we all know how Kellez get down, don’t we accord-ing to history. A lot of artists are only good studio singers and suck live; however, R. Kelly is the truth. This man made sure that the crowd knew what was up by singing long drawn out hook runs. His voice is butta’, so with that be-ing said, “Can I get a Toot! Toot! Can I get a Beep! Beep!”. Until next time, and please support ya’ girl and like our face book page under LUE Productions. L’Z!

Youth, Parents, and Community Demand San Bernardino City USD Do More to Stop the School-to-Prison Pipeline

SAN BERNARDINO, CA- On Tuesday, Octo-ber 20, parents, students, and community mem-bers in San Bernardi-no will demand that San Bernardino City Unified School District adopt the Progressive Discipline Policy to do more to re-form the district’s dis-cipline that funnel stu-dents of color through the school-to-prison pipeline. The district has used the Progressive Discipline Matrix as a guide to help schools

change their practices by adopting strategies such as School-wide Positive Behavior Sup-port and Restorative Jus-tice which has resulted in significant drops in overall student suspen-sion rates from 11% in 2010-2011 school year to 6.4% in 2014-2015 school year. The community be-lieves that the criminal-ization of youth of color remains a threat, espe-cially to African Ameri-can students who contin-ue to experience signifi-cantly disproportionate discipline for disruption/willful defiance and face higher rates of school re-lated arrests and refer-rals to law enforcement than other subgroups of students. Research has shown that when com-

mitting the same or sim-ilar subjective behavior offenses, African Amer-ican students are in-clined to receive more severe disciplinary con-sequences (Noltemeyer & Mcloughlin, 2010a; Noltemeyer & Mclough-lin, 2010b; Skiba, et al., 2002). African Amer-ican and Latino stu-dents combined expe-rience school-based ar-rests at higher rates than those who complete A-G course requirements and are prepared for college and career. As California is home to a significant number of state and federal prisons consequently, schools in San Bernardino Coun-ty experience high-er rates of suspension, citations, and school-based arrests in compar-ison to other counties in the state making this re-gion a direct feeder in-to the school-to-prison pipeline. Parents, stu-dents, and the communi-ty members a new poli-cy that will, among ma-ny things, end to willful defiance suspensions, define articulate the role of police on campus and the use of alternative strategies to reduce the use of citations and stu-dent arrests in disciplin-ary matters, and estab-lish a structure for com-munity oversight. This is effort is be-ing organized by Inland Congregations Unit-ed for Change, Congre-gations Organized for Prophetic Engagement, Youth Action Project, American Civil Liber-ties Union of Southern California, in solidari-ty with Pico California Network and the State-wide School Discipline Action Team, a coalition of community-based and advocacy groups work-ing to reform school dis-cipline practices across the state of California.

Assemblymember Brown’s Measure to Improve I-10 and I-15 Corridors is Signed into Law SACRAMENTO - AB 914, a measure by Assem-blymember Cheryl R. Brown (D-San Bernardino), has been signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown. The bill authorizes the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) to implement an Express Lane program in San Bernardino County on the I-10 and the I-15 corridors. “The Inland Empire is the fastest growing region in the state; and as result, we are subject to the worst traffic and air quality conditions,” stated Assembly-

member Brown. “AB 914 gives SANBAG ad-ditional tools to reduce congestion and improve our air quality. Addition-ally, the project creates a significant number of new jobs.” San Bernardino Coun-

Fathers play the most influential role in the stability and future success of their children. Yet so many times, children are left to grow up fatherless. In Life Without the Father, Dr. Clyde A. Stewart recounts his experiences as a young black man growing up without a father. When he found himself as a teenager with a child, he had to make a choice: perpetuate the cycle, or break free. Dr. Stewart worked in the penal institutions of California before starting Stewart’s Home for Boys, a commu-nity center that help steer the lives of some 650 juvenile delinquents and over 100 foster children. He was then called into the minis-try where he found San Bernardino Westside Christian Center. Purchase Your Copy From Westside Christian Center 785 N. ty is projected to have 3.4 million residents in 2060. The I-10 and I-15 corridors are among the most congested and ur-banized in the state, see-ing up to 483,000 vehi-cles per day. By 2045, these numbers are ex-pected to reach 668,500 vehicles per day, a 38 percent increase. “AB 914 gives our re-gion the ability to re-

duce congestion and im-prove mobility for those that travel within and through our county. The projects being consid-ered for the I-10 and I-15 corridors are anticipated to produce 11,000 jobs for our region and save $40 million annually in delay costs for travelers countywide by 2045,” said Raymond Wolfe, Executive Director of

SANBAG. “AB 914 ap-propriately requires that we reinvest funds gen-erated from any proj-ects developed on these corridors on local street and road improvements, which means that all drivers would see ben-efits, even if they were to never use Express Lanes.”

during the fashion show. Program Director and lead Audio Engineer for MCL, Steven L. Her-nandez organized Sat-urday’s showcase and commented, “I started at MCL three years ago and when I started I thought this was crazy because I hadn’t heard about a program like this before. But when I started work-ing with kids who had difficulties and prob-lems, I realized this was one of the places they could come to not only be themselves, but could grow and escape from what they may have to deal with every day.”’ Music Changing Lives offers students at the See “Celebrat...” page 8

Redlands Communi-ty Center recording ses-sions, vocal coach-ing, piano lessons, gui-tar lessons and art les-sons Monday – Saturday from 2pm-9pm for only $20.00 a month. Former student and guest judge for the event, Jose Mariscal of Moreno Valley discovered MCL during his senior year of high school. Jose credits MCL to opening many doors for him musically and for giving him confi-dence to perform and au-dition. He also enjoys giving back and helping other

young artists who were like him a few years ago. “I was in bad shape, you know, and music got me to focus on what I love doing. I love singing. I love playing the guitar, the piano, the drums. It’s one of my dreams,” he said. “We plan to celebrate Lights on After School every year because it not only recognizes the important role after-school programs play in our communities, it al-so celebrates the kids in our programs, the arts, the music and all of the achievements we’ve

reached,” said CEO & Founder of Music Changing Lives Josiah Bruny. Afterschool programs keep kids safe, help working families and in-spire learning. Accord-ing to data from the Af-terschool Alliance, 14.3 million children are without adult supervi-sion in the afternoon hours.
