WESTSIDE LIFE August 9, 2015
For Our Guests
Becoming a Christian...We believe that it is by grace that we are saved through our response of faith,
believing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died to take the penalty of our sins on Himself, and that He was raised from the dead on the third day by the power of God. God calls people to believe in Jesus as their Savior, repent of sin in their life, make a confession of faith that Jesus is Lord and be joined to Christ and added to His church by being immersed (baptized) in His name. Having made this response of faith to God, all sin is forgiven and we receive the gift of God's Holy Spirit to live in us and to empower us to live for Jesus. All those who come to faith in Him may request immersion at any time.
Becoming a Member at Westside...All believers, who by faith in Jesus have been baptized through
immersion for forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit, may place their membership at Westside. You may express your desire to one of our elders or ministers, or mark the appropriate space on our visitor card. Members here are under the spiritual care of our shepherds and committed to service and full participation with the family of God at this congregation.
Responding...You may request immersion (baptism), re-commit your life, or seek prayers on your behalf
by going forward during the time of response or by contacting an elder, a minister, or any member of this congregation at any time.
Communion...Communion at Westside is open to all believers who have gathered with us to honor Jesus.

We have an opportunity to help Standard Middle School this month. The superintendent has expressed that middle school children are often overlooked in back to school drives. The middle school has a closet for school supplies to hand out to kids who need supplies for the first week of school. We are collecting: plain backpacks (no characters), 3 ring binders (1 1/2 or 2 inch), loose leaf college ruled paper, No. 2 pencils (standard or mechanical), black or blue pens, erasers, and zipper pouches for pencils. Drop off donations at the Salt & Light Booth. Thank you for blessing these kids!

Thank you…We would like to thank you for your prayers, cards and concern for our son, Frankie. Our summer began with a series of heart exams for Frankie. At that point, the cardiologists informed us that the narrowing in Frankie's aorta had gotten worse and that Frankie would require some type of intervention. Due to Frankie’s unique heart anatomy, the doctors had to decide whether to place a stent, a balloon dilation or perform heart surgery. We took Frankie to the hospital on July 24 for this procedure and the surgeons informed us that if a stent or balloon dilation was to be done the procedure would take 3-4 hours. After about two hours, the cardiologists and surgeons gave us the surprising news that after an angiogram and taking accurate measurements of his aortic valve and his heart in general, they came to the conclusion that Frankie’s heart was functioning well and that no further intervention was needed! We feel very blessed, surprised and overwhelmed and we know that this was all God’s doing. Continued on next page...
Thank you continued...God is SO good and we are grateful to Him for blessing Frankie, listening to our prayers and watching over our son. We truly appreciate your prayers and your love. It means a lot to us to have such a supportive church family! Frank & Diane Lopez
