Article X of the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Westside at

Buttercup CreekSECTION 22. SOD

Each month a section of this Article will be reviewed to help homeowners be better informed. The complete set of Bylaws and CCR’s were given to you when you closed on your house, but can also be found at the HOA website which is www.westsidehoa.org.

Section 22. Sod. The Owner of each Lot, as a minimum, shall solid sod the front and side yards of his Lot with grass, and shall at all times maintain such grass in a neat, clean and attractive condition, periodically resodding damaged areas of the lawn as they occur. The grass shall be of a type and within standards prescribed by the New Construction Committee.

Comment: Despite what some people may think, it is not OK to let your grass die and do nothing about it. It’s also not OK to have weeds in your yard, just because it’s weed season. The rule says that your front lawn should always look good, which includes during the winter when it is dormant. It’s not that hard to get rid of a weed as soon as it comes up. It should look nice year round.

CLINCHING AND GRINDING Dental Tips from the Dark Corner of the Mouth

By Darrell Park, D.D.S.

Has anyone ever told you that you grind your teeth when you sleep and it makes an awful noise? Do you notice that your teeth look shorter or flatter than they used to? Are your teeth chipped? Do you wake up in the morning with a sore jaw? Do you wake up with a head ache? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be clinching or grinding your teeth.

Clinching and grinding your teeth can happen both at night when you are asleep, and during the day when you are awake. Whenever it happens, there are usually certain things that trigger it. A big trigger is stress. Whether it’s a new job, a new assignment at your job, a move, a child moving back in, or whatever else may cause stress in your life, stress will often make people clinch or grind their teeth. Sometimes, a certain activity will trigger clinching and grinding. If you are doing something during the day and notice that you are clinching your teeth together, you’ve found one of your triggers.

If someone is clinching or grinding during the day due to a specific activity, the first thing I suggest that they try is sticking

their tongue between their teeth while doing that activity. Obviously this isn’t very smart if it’s a physical activity, but if you clinch your teeth every time you do email, that’s the perfect opportunity to break the habit with your tongue. It will relax the muscles in your jaw and make everything feel better. Whatever you do, don’t play basketball with your tongue between your teeth! A sports mouth guard is more appropriate for physical situations, and can be found at any sporting goods store, or made custom at your dentist’s office.

If stress is your problem, your case is easy. Just get rid of the stress. I know, easier said than done. If the stress isn’t going away, and you know that you are clinching or grinding at night when you sleep, you may want to look into some kind of night guard. There are many different kinds both over the counter and custom made in the dental office. A night guard will relax your jaw muscles and protect your teeth. If you have any questions or want to find out more, don’t hesitate to ask your dentist.
