The Service achieved ISO 9001 certification in February 2009. An ISO 9001 quality management system provides the Service with a framework to monitor and improve performance in our Engineering Department.

ISO 9001 is by far the world’s most established quality framework, currently being used by over ¾ million organisations in 161 countries, and sets the standard for quality management systems.

This quality framework helps the Service succeed through improved customer satisfaction, staff motivation and continual improvement. This system improves performance, manages risk, encourages efficiency, streamlines operations resulting increased customer satisfaction.

Systems like this will help the Service build a competitive advantage for future contracts.

Thomas’ story was contributed by

his mother Michelle Newman, a

proud suppor ter of the Service and

the John Hunter Hospital Newborn

Intensive Care Unit. The Newman’s

were keen to tell their story to others

to create awareness of the life saving

work of those involved not only with

the Service but also, the NICU, at

Eddie and Gwen French reside at the Island Leisure Village, Anna Bay and have been selling raffle tickets for the Service since January 2002.

During that time they have donated almost $50,000 to the Service. The couple recently visited the Newcastle Base and enjoyed a tour with air

crewman Glen Ramplin.

Members of the Cessnock Volunteer Support Group including Bruce Matthews,

Lorainne Corcoran, Patsy Black and Colin Springbett, pictured, worked tirelessly

to garner support from the donors, sponsors and golfers at the Mineworker’s Golf

Championship recently, raising $12,000 for the Service.

Three-year-old Owen Shoesmith of Gunnedah was one of hundreds of people who attended Charity Golf

Days for the Service in the New England North West recently.
