In the first two years of Westover’s swimming program, seven girls qualified for the New England Championships.arts & athletics highlights

Westover offers a breadth of programs in the athletics and the arts and a range of extracurricular activities for all girls to discover and explore their passions. Our size allows us the flexibility to accommodate all interests and talents. Students have the time to participate in arts, athletics, and activities, and as a result, try everything, from squash and canoeing to social activism and singing. Novices and experienced athletes can achieve their personal best, competing in interscholastic sports or participating in personal fitness classes. Girls benefit from Westover’s close proximity to New York City, Boston, and Yale University in New Haven, increasing opportunities for learning and playing outside of the classroom, while fun, weekly co-ed events provide an answer to the common “What about boys?” question.

to do Westover consistently ranks among the top Scholastic Art Award winners on the state level and receives national recog- nition roughly once every two years, far above the average of once every 10 years.

In 2010, Westover’s varsity cross-country team earned 2nd place in the Division III New England Championship, with two All-New England runners.

“Since 1909, Westover has remained true to its motto: Cogitare, Agere, Esse. ‘To think, to do, to be’ is more than a catchphrase. Westover develops young women who will be prepared to think their way through problems, to take action, and to make a difference with their lives.”
