Summer All Church Events!!!!
Every other Sunday night beginning June 30th the Sunday school classes will take turns hosting an all
church event. Keep watch for more details! The class list is as follows: June 30th-Young Adult Class & WV
102 class, July 14th-WV 103 Focus Class, July 28th-WV 105 Christian Companions, Aug. 11th– WV 104 & Dan
Aaron’s class, and Aug. 25th-Christian Helpers.
New Security System The door codes have been activated. If you want the code, see Lonnie, Tim, Eric,
or Erin and they will give you the code. Please protect this code just like you would
for your home. We want all members to have access but be secure while they are in the buildings. Please do not prop the doors open, they will alarm after a certain
time and someone will come out to check on it. If you are having an event at the
church, like a birthday party, wedding or other gathering, contact Erin and the
proper access point (basement or foyer) will be switched off and you will sign out a
pack of keys so you can come and go by using the door locks. Then, when you are
done, you will give the keys back to Erin. Thank you for you cooperation and your
patience. This is being done to protect our youth and members, and hopefully it
will actually make access easier.

A group from West Village is getting ready to visit the Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch in Shelbina, Missouri. They will leave on June
30th and return on July 4th. Please pray for safe travels and that God is able to use them
how they are best needed at the ranch.

Vacation Bible School Success!!!!
VBS was a huge success this year!! All the kids (and adults!!)
loved the dinosaurs!! Attendance on Tuesday: 91, Wednesday: 98,
Thursday: 89, and Friday: 85. We had a total of 107 kids overall!!
The mission for the week was Oblong Children’s Christian Home
and $677.90 was raised to buy birthday presents for the kids
there!!

Summer is a here and that means it is camp season! Online registration is open, so look
online and see what week of camp works the best for your summer schedule. When
registering online you will need the code westvillagecc100 to
include on the payment page, then print out the form for one
of the elders to sign, and we will send it to Oil Belt for you! All
that’s left after that is to pack and have a great time!
Elementary 1st-5th grades meets at the church with
Bonnie, Grace, and Stacey at 6 p.m. on Sunday
evenings.

Freedom As we move into summer and the month of July, most of us look forward to the big summer holiday, the 4th of July. We all
know that on this day we celebrate our independence, our freedom, as Americans. As we celebrate these rights and
freedoms, we must remember those who have gone before us and have done so much to guarantee we can continue in that
freedom. As Americans, we will fiercely defend our freedoms. It doesn’t matter where you stand in your political beliefs, if
you want to stir things up, just tell this or that group that someone is going to take away their “freedoms”. Whether it’s
freedom of speech, to keep and bear arms, to worship, or even to be whatever we think we should be. Everyone will jump
up to defend their freedom.
While thinking about all these freedoms, a question came to mind. How far would you go to protect your freedom? Would
you fight? Would you join the military? Would you raise money? Give money? How about run for office? Ronald Reagan was
quoted as saying “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the
bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.” So how far would you go?
How about becoming a servant? This is what we are called to as Christ followers. Peter tells us in 1 Peter 2:16 “to live as free
men, but do not use your freedom as a cover up for evil; live as servants to God.” You see we have freedom as Christians, but our
example in this is Christ. He was a servant to God’s Will by going to that cross in our place, our freedom from sin was
bought by Him, and Paul tells us in Galatians 5:13 what this means, “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your
freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”
So, this 4th of July, find a way to be God’s hands and feet. Go out and do what he calls you to do, to serve one another. Take
a meal to a shut in, take someone who is alone with you to the fireworks, pay for the drink or meal of the person who is
behind you in line. By serving others, we are defending our freedom in Christ, our freedom to live as “servants to God.”
