Raising Standards Leader – KS4 OFSTED Focus: Student Outcomes

Co-ordinate the Whole School Intervention Programme at KS4

Regularly review key marginal students and use resources available to motivate staff and students

Monitorvery carefully ‘in house variation’ at Department or class teacher level, working closely with both to identify blockages and interventions/support required. Implement and monitor for impact.

Monitor the quality of homework, regularity with which it is set, completion rates and impact. Support students who are struggling to organise themselves, work with staff who are not being consistent, inform parents where appropriate and regularly review involving HOD’s.

Monitor the quality of marking, regularly reviewing via book checks the regularity, fix it 5 outcomes and impact. Ensure feedback is directly linked to PLC’s. Work with individuals and depts. where there are issues and monitor carefully for improvement and increased impact.

Monitor and take action where group performance is below expectations. Put in place strategies to support this and work closely with the Pupil Premium Co-ordinator to ensure a minimum of 10% gap compared to non Pupil Premium students

Behaviour for Learning and Safeguarding OFSTED Focus: Behaviour, Welfare and Safeguarding

Have an overview and lead on behaviour and discipline for KS3, 4 and 5.

Promote and develop pupil’s attitudes to learning and independence.

Refine and develop the whole school strategy for Positive Behaviour Management and support teachers with Behaviour for Learning, leading the Behaviour for Learning team.

Regularly monitor and feedback on behaviour, generating half termly whole school Health Checks to present to SLT and Governors.

Oversee the school’s Positive Reporting systems.

Lead the development of the Student Reward Scheme overseeing the work of the school’s Rewards Co-ordinator.

Take responsibility for fixed term and internal exclusion.

Ensure pastoral care provision is effective, linking with external providers.

Lead on the whole school tracking and promotion of anti bullying and anti racism.

Put in place proactive behaviour management strategies, modification support programmes and disciplinary panels.

Organise and monitor managed moves and co-ordinate mid-year admissions.

Overview the school House System (including competitions via co-ordinator)

To lead and manage six Heads of House and the non-teaching support team.

Oversee Alternative Education provision and achievement.

Be the Child Protection Designated Officer and be responsible for safeguarding and pupil’s pastoral care and welfare.

Oversee Attendance and Punctuality, taking responsibility for lesson by lesson electronic registration.

Ensure registration, the role of the Form Tutors and the Tutor programme are highly effective.

Oversee the work of the Student Voice and students as researchers with the Student Voice Co-ordinator.

Lead on student leadership opportunities across the school.

Review and finalise Student Planners on an annual basis.

Oversee the progress of and provision for Looked After Children.

Co-ordinate whole school duty provision (during and outside of lessons), regularly monitoring to ensure effectiveness.

Conduct and co-ordinate pastoral team climate walks.

Oversee the assembly programme and provision via the co-ordinator ensuring a good coverage of spiritual, moral, social and cultural input.
