Swim Season Opening Date & Pool Keys – there is one week left in which to obtain a pool key: COMMUNITY USE OF POOL: The pool will open to the community once we have the fire exit security alarms installed and the security cameras operating. Community use is anticipated to be early next week. Key holders will need to complete the following procedure for a key:

1. Collect the Pool User Code and Pool Rules procedure from Carol Brotheridge at the school office – take it home, read it and bring it back signed

2. Key payment is made following the return of the signed agreement 3. Attend a Health & Safety briefing about use of the pool BEFORE the key is handed out.

The new Pool Procedures are enclosed at the end of this newsletter. With increased Health & Safety requirements around pool safety we have purchased door security alarms for each fire exit door for the pool enclosure and two security cameras to monitor that key holders ensure that the entry door and the emergency fire exit doors remain CLOSED at all times. Pool keys will cost $80.00 for the season. There will NOT be a rebate on the return of the key at the end of the swimming season. Carolyn Daer can be contacted for a pool key over the holidays at 310 2288. We envisage that the swim season will run until the end of the school term in term one. (to be advised). CHRISTCHURCH CHRISTMAS CONTAINER – for KAIKOURA

On Monday the 19th of December, a Container full of Christmas presents will be taken through to Kaikoura for the children that have been affected by the recent Earthquakes.

Not only are we all too well aware of what these children are going through, but coming up to Christmas and with currently no access to petrol there is little chance for parents to buy presents.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? You can help by donating a toy / game / book – please wrap and label it with which

gender suitable for and an approximate age range so it will get to the right child

(No perishable items thank you)

The container is Situated at Casebrook Intermediate School and gifts can be dropped off during school hours until the 16th of December.

If you would like to gather gifts from your school/business and have someone come and collect, please let us know via our Facebook Page ** Christchurch Christmas Container – for Kaikoura **

This page will be updated with drop off points and details of the progress of the container filling up.

We could not do this without the support of the following Sponsors:

Welcome to Playcentre! Playcentre is a parent run cooperative. We believe that parents are the first and best teachers for their children. Your knowledge of your child and your skills and interests are valued. We believe that children learn best through play where they are encouraged in their strengths and interests. We are committed to whanau and community: supporting and encouraging each other. We are currently holding 2 Playcentre sessions each week: Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9.15am – 12.15pm. Once children feel comfortable at Playcentre there are options of dropping older children off when you are not on duty. Beginning 2017 we are very excited to be able to offer an additional Outdoor Session on Wednesday mornings! This is an amazing opportunity for children to explore in nature: building huts, cooking over camp fires, riding bikes, flying kites, climbing and lots of exploring! Positive learning outcomes include: developing trust with their peers, strengthening relationships, taking calculated risks and learning their limits and boundaries, building physical skills and endurance, respect and love for nature and so much more! Fees are $30 per term for one or two sessions, per child. We are offering the Outdoor session for free if you are enrolled in one or two other Playcentre session (Tues/Thurs). Playcentre also offers free parent education where you can build on your knowledge of how children learn. This opportunity can also lead to future employment within Playcentre. Please contact Marina Blanchard if you are interested or have any questions. We would love to hear from you. Thank you. 03 310 2460 or 027 267 1747
