This free event is avail-able to West Bountiful residents the third Saturday in June every year. A free family movie night will be held that evening on the outdoor pool deck. Family activities will begin at 8:30 pm; the movie, The Jungle Book, will begin at 9 pm.

The city has scheduled asphalt overlays for the following streets in mid-July. Those affected will be notified ahead of time. Overlays typically require some road prep and then a one day closure on the day of paving.

Streetlight OutagesRocky Mtn Power sometimes needs your

help to let them know if streetlights are out in your neighborhood. You can go to their website: www.rockymountainpower.net/ed/streetlights to complete an online form or you can call toll free anytime at 1-888-221-7070 to report an outage.

Summer is finally here. Many have used their air con-ditioning/swamp cooler, prepared lawn and garden, and done some spring cleaning. But, have you updated your 72/96-hour emergency kit/car kit for summer? It is important to review kits and update them for summer with water, sunscreen, bug spray, clothes, and anything else. Also review everything in the kit to make sure it is still usable. Check expiration dates and that they still do what they need to. Are the band aids too old and brittle to use? Make sure both emergency kits and car kit are ready for summer emergencies.

Despite a wet year, we still need to conserve water resources. Weber Basin provides a free water audit to Davis County residents. These audits bring highly trained interns to your home to inspect your irrigation system, make suggestions to be more water-wise, determine the texture of the soil, find precipitation rate of the sprinklers, and leave the homeowner with a recommended watering sched-ule and educational materials.

Call 801-771-1677 for more info or to sign up. Also, visit www.weberba-sin.com/conservation for class lists and more info.

Last August instead of taking an August break from their monthly concert series, the West Bountiful Arts Council brought back a much loved tradition from the past and hosted a “Back to School Bash” for youth ages 14-18. We’ll be doing it again this August! Mark your calendars for Aug. 11, the second Friday of the month, from 8–11 pm and join us at the West Bountiful Park Bowery. In June, our concert stage at city hall will present Jim Child, West Bountiful’s award winning portrait and wildlife photographer. During the next 6 months, visitors to city hall will see some of Jim’s favorite photographs on display in the council chambers. However, on June 9, concert goers will have the privilege of seeing many more photos via slideshow presentation and of listening to Jim share fascinating stories of his many photographic adventures. If we’re lucky, we may even come away with some tips and tricks about capturing the light through a camera lens at just the right moment to take an award-winning photo.

We will be creating a special section for any Service Men/Women who have lived in West Bountiful and served this great country, so please contact us with this information as well.

If you have a bit of free time, we also need help compiling the book, so please Debbie McKean @ 801-231-8320 if you can help us.

Legal Fireworks may only be dis-charged beginning on July 1 through July 7, and July 21 through July 27 be-tween the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. except on July 4, and July 24, when the evening hour is extended to midnight. Please be courteous to your neighbors by obeying these time restrictions.

A type of aerial firework is now legal. Aerial devices known as “multiple tube”, repeater”, or “cake” fireworks

often look like miniature professional displays and can travel high into the air, as much as 150 feet. Please be mindful of your neighbors property and where your fi reworks will land.

Still not allowed are FIRECRACK-ERS, M-80, CHERRY BOMBS, BOT-TLE ROCKETS, ROMAN CANDLES, SINGLE OR RELOADABLE MOR-TARS, and GROUND SALUTES.

You must be at least 16 years old to handle or light fireworks.

Many children are burned each year by sparklers. The tip of a sparkler burns at a temperature of more than 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit which is hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns. Please be cau-tious and careful with your children so they aren’t injured.

If someone comes to your door selling products or services, they need to have a West Bountiful City Solici-tors photo ID displayed, or produce it when requested by an occupant of the home. If they are rude or disorderly, or if at any time you feel threatened, please ask them to leave and call the West Bountiful Police Department IMMEDIATELY. If you do not want solicitors, place a "No Solicitation" sign at your front door.

Never allow a stranger into your home. If someone approaches your door and informs you that they are with a certain company, request to see their company picture ID card and city-issued solicitor's registra-tion badge. Teach your children these safety tips.

Call the West Bountiful Police Department (801-298-6000) if you ob-serve suspicious persons or activities.
