A very proud new member joined the

capacity audience at the Association of

Security Consultants (ASC) quarterly

Business Club Seminar held recently in St.

James’s, London. Tony Wheat (pictured

accepted into the membership by Roy

Sutherland, ASC Chairman. This accolade is

certainly warranted with Tony having

served 25 years as a Security Specialist and

as the Business Development Manager for

Wessex Fire and Security he continues to

design CCTV installations, Access Control

and Intruder Alarm Systems across

southern UK.

Stuart Fisher, Wessex Fire and Security

director said, “we are very pleased that

one of our key staff has achieved this

award, ASC members are leading experts in

their fields with specialist skills and are

able to handle a broad range of strategic

issues. Collectively their expertise and

experience covers every facet of corporate

Experience Counts

When it comes to renewable energy,

Wessex Building Services are fast

becoming known as a trusted and

proficient supplier of renewable and

sustainable technologies.

successfully carried out include:

recently completed a number

of innovative sustainable

technologies to the newly

refurbished ‘green house’ hotel

in Bournemouth, (part of the

City Eco Hotel Group) which

included solar

thermal hot

water production,

a CHP scheme

and intelligent

lighting.

Spetisbury Construction chose Wessex

Building Services to take control over the

complete electrical, heating and ventilation

installation to the green house hotel.

The green house will be a beautiful boutique

hotel that lives and breathes sustainability.

Situated in the heart of Bournemouth, the

green house opens in April 2010 after

undergoing a complete refurbishment.

Wessex installed a 5 panel solar heating

system, a CHP (combined heat & power)

generator unit producing 5.5kWh of electricity,

a boiler system running in 100% condensing

mode, high efficiency pipe work / fittings and

intelligent lighting to reduce power

consumption together with a full electrical

rewire, heating, ventilation and plumbing

installations.

In addition to their very strict requirement for

such sustainable energy solutions, Wessex were

also required to fit sustainable sanitary-ware

such as hand basins (carved from solid stone)

mounted on oak pedestals (made from

reclaimed oak)

“Wessex was a good choice as they incorporate

both mechanical and electrical disciplines and

coordinate works extremely well; we are always

pleased when using Wessex.”

Although one of the smaller mainstream

denominations, the United Reformed Church plays

a dynamic and challenging part in the British

Christian community with around one hundred

thousand people making up 1600 congregations,

with nearly 800 ministers, paid and unpaid.

Wessex is often contacted to work on ecclesiastical

and sensitive buildings within southern UK and was only too pleased to design and install two solar

heating panels to supply hot water to the kitchen facilities and wash rooms for their newly built

extension.

A simple requirement to significantly reduce the water heating bills and reduce energy consumption

to buildings is now becoming commonplace. With such an extensive portfolio of works and with

knowledge and experience for both innovative and renewable energy solutions, Wessex Building

Services continue to go from strength to strength.

Deciding on whether your new

project or refurbishment

program would benefit from a

renewable energy solution

could be made easier with a

no obligation Wessex

Sustainable Energy Survey.

Wessex have been one of the longest standing government led Warm Front partners aimed

to improve the living conditions of vulnerable people living in cold, damp and energy

inefficient houses, and have upgraded thousands of gas and electric heating systems under

this initiative since 2001.

Gordon Green, Wessex Electricals Director explained; “Any genuine incentive to the public

that encourages householders to decommission inefficient old boilers and install A-rated

energy efficient systems, will go a long way to significantly reducing the environmental

impact and reduce fuel bills during a time when fuel is so costly.”

For impartial advice on the boiler scrappage scheme telephone Wessex on 0800 652 2888

Following the Government’s offer to UK households

of £400 towards the cost of upgrading their old

boilers (if G-rated) to a high efficiency A-rated one;

Wessex have set up a direct line to deal with the

extra enquiries and have been pleased to offer free

advice and on-site surveys to the public.

With Wessex Electricals and Wessex HVAC &

Plumbing having both experience and commitment

to supporting sustainable energy solutions, the

boiler scrappage scheme has been welcomed by

Wessex as replacing an old boiler could save

householders over a fifth on fuel bills – and up to

32% if you opt for a condensing boiler.
