Situation 2012

• Experience generally good.• Tolerance levels rejected, on legal grounds.• Co-management system weakened.• Problems in shrimps fishery.• EU regulations 1224/2009 and 404/2011.

Goals:• Evaluate situation• Simplify system for “2000 hp” vessels• Improve compliance level for “300 hp vessels”• Improve international Level Playing Field

General problem: A diesel engine does not have a specific power. Which means that an engine certificate without a physical limitation has no value.

Progress made so far:

Simplified sealing arrangements for “2000 hp” vessels

Suggestions for “300 hp vessels”• list of accepted engines• maximum cylinder volume• black box system• application Article 29, par. 2c of EU regulation 850/98 (300 kW limit and 75% rule)
