Ways To Improve Your Spelling

To spell a word that you don’t know, first consider its meaning. There might be parts of it that you are familiar with. Break the word into syllables and see if this helps. Perhaps you know a similar word that you can use to work out the meaning of this word.

Ways To Improve Your Spelling

For you to learn a new word, you might have to first look at it and familiarise yourself it. Next, say the word; then hide the word from view; and say the word as you are writing it. Finally, check to see if the word is correct. This is a learning procedure known as LOOK, SAY, COVER, WRITE, CHECK.

Ways To Improve Your Spelling

Search for patterns in alien words, such as recognisable suffixes or prefixes. For example, the prefix ‘dis’ is usually used to make a word negative. ‘Advantage’ turns negative when it becomes ‘Disadvantage’
