Personal statement
I joined the British Army in 1988. During this time I served in Saudi Arabia as part of Operation Granby (the 1st Gulf Conflict). In January 1992 I was honourably discharged, and in April that year I gave birth to my daughter. As a single mother I have worked in the retail industry for 18 years and maintained my adult learning. I have no child care responsibilities and I am ready for a new challenge.
Key achievements
While I was in the British Army I achieved the rank of Lance Corporal amongst fierce competition. Part of this role was to supervise the ranks below me in the sorting office.
While serving in Saudi Arabia I successfully managed a Forces Post Office (FPO), handling large quantities of money and balancing the books at the end of each shift.
While I worked in Pontlliw PO & Stores I was trusted to run the store on my own in the nights and to lock up.
In my current job I have achieved supervisory authorisation of the tills, and also entrusted with the counting of the safe and ensuring the till staff have adequate change in their tills.
